Apparently the streaming rights to the Fox properties are licensed to HBO through contracts of unknown length. This is why the X-men films are not on Disney+ or Hulu. Disney is in a tight spot with NM because they have the ability to release in theaters but not onto their own streaming platforms without buying the streaming rights back.

This means the movie may continue to sit on the shelf until they figure out a theater release or those contracts expire.
Does someone here know how many millions of people watched "Dark Phoenix" on HBO?

I don't think they give those numbers out sadly.

Every time this thread is updated my heart jumps a bit.

One day I'll actually be happy with the new post. Just give me the damn movie that we waited almost 2 years for reshoots that never even happened.

Doubt it. It's HBO. Millions are watching, you know.

I signed up for a free week of HBO just to watch Dark Phoenix.

It was terrible. I cancelled my subscription.

I get that Dark Phoenix was awful. But there are a lot of really good things to watch on HBO I feel like you should have given them a shot.

HBO Max gives you access to TCM’a library and I’ve been watching classic films from the 1930s and so on. Just re-watched my favorite musical Singin’ in the Rain last night...
Morrison Era 2001-2005, Decimation Era from 2005-2012, Bendis Era 2012-2016, M-Pox era 2016-2017, and Resurrxion 2017-2019, Hickman Era 2019-?

I try not to pay for television. There’s enough “free” TV with my Prime subscription to keep me satisfied. I “paid” for Dark Phoenix with the virtual coupon of one weeks free trial of HBO. I probably should have used it on something better, but I’m enough of a completist that I wanted to see DP.

I used to have an irrational fear of dying before I could see the Mysterio movie. Now I have a rational fear of dying before The New Mutants is released.

I'm beginning to think it's an elaborate psych experiment. They never made the movie, they only shot the trailer footage. They're trying to figure out how long we'll wait before we give up. Like the experiment in Community.

Anybody is overlooking the importance of "The New Mutants" in the X-Men continuity.

We got a 34 years old Roberto da Costa/Sunspot (Adan Canto) in year 2023 (DOFP). This means that Sunspot will be 18 years old in the mid-2000s or late-2000s. Besides, we also know that Illyana/Magik is the little sister of Colossus, and we already got an adult Piotr/Colossus in 1999/2000.

So "The New Mutants" is placed in the 2000s, I would say 2008 or so.

If there are NO reference to the mutant race going gradually "extinct" or the lack of mutant births since 2004, we can safely assume that "Logan" is an alternate continuity. Hopefully.

"The New Mutants" could be the final milestone in the continuity and the key to understand the fate of the revised timeline better.

We aren’t overlooking anything since we don’t know in whose continuity this film takes place in lol...

I admire your gusto and dedication but that’s at best a fanon.

Logan is in a different continuity but we have no indication what continuity this is.

DOFP's time travel also messed up the ages of other mutants in successive films.

Cyclops is 18 years old in 1983 - both Origins and Apocalypse are set in 1983, indeed.

The "Angel"/Archangel in "Apocalypse" is not Warren Kenneth Worthington III (The Last Stand). He's a Seraphim (see the comic books).
We know that this subset of mutants exists in the mainstream movie universe because we already got an X-Ray image of one Seraphim's wing in "Origins" (1983).

Different costumes, different faces, different powers. Just the same codename.

FC/DOFP Xavier absorbed the memories of the original timeline, so he reused the codename for Lana Condor in the early eighties.

I won’t lie, that’s some impressive mental gymnastics to make sense of this sh**show lol

LOL.

Try me.

This is another one you'll love:

X2: on Stryker's Files, you can see two Cassidys and two Maximoffs listed on there.

Well, in ORIGINS (1983), there were three clones in the facility of Three Miles Island:

Emma Silvefox
Banshee
Quicksilver

Maybe in the original timeline, Quicksilver was killed in the mid-seventies.

So basically, in the nineties Xavier recruited three clones for the second generation of X-Men:

Cyclops
Storm
Beast
Jean Grey
Emma Silverfox
Banshee 2/Sean Cassidy 2
Quicksilver 2/ Peter Maximoff 2
