My wife and I plan to sell everything we own and leave our entire support network in pursuit of a dream with little prospects of success. I am not at all an ambitious person but she is and I don't want to clip her wings so I will take a leap of faith with her. It's going to be an interesting year...
YES CABLE! I fully endorse dream chasing, and I hope that you both succeed

Cable, good luck! That's exciting!
I may be moving this year as well! My husband has a potential job offer in Oregon, so we are going to check it out in a couple weeks. It'd be a HUGE raise for him, and I work for schools remotely so I don't have to be anywhere specific. Nervous/excited about it! I've never lived west coast, and it's a totally different climate - but we also are thinking about it to get a bigger house and have kids so...

Ooooooh you should hunt down SixHoursofLucy and demand he show you the sights! (Well, depending on where you are in Oregon)

Have fun with the humidity
@das, if I find six I could finally make him propose to my brother after all these years

I miss him! Is he in Portland? Our potential new home would be in Eugene, which is a little south of Portland.

Eugene is pretty sweet, I had some friends move up there and if I wasn't tied down here it'd definitely be a place I'd consider living. That said I live in the Bay Area so culturally it's fairly similar, not sure if it'll be a culture shock for you or not.
As for Cable, enjoy becoming Florida Man...

As far as I’m aware, yes, although he DID also recently propose to his long term partner ha ha ha

Well that's about the best part you could be in, really! Even though there's loads of tourists, there's a lot to do and it's less...weird and political I guess? That said, hurricanes there are crazy and the heat/humidity is intense.
And I don't think it'll be much culture shock for me, Magnus! I've lived in NYC, Chicago, Denver, Madison, a few places in Iowa. I'm more concerned about adjusting to climate. I'm now very acclimated to desert dry, and so even a little moisture makes me feel gross. I'm sure if we end up moving, I'll acclimate. I'm glad you like Eugene! I've heard good things.

Omg I can’t believe that you and your wife are going to conquer the demon-mouse’s domain and claim it for your own. That’s bold. So bold.

WELCOME. If you want a list of comic stores in the greater Orlando area, let me know. Prepare for abysmal driving.

You live near Orlando? I might need to PM you about some of these neighborhoods we are looking at lol
We likely won't move for a few months though. We have to sell our house and most of the things we own. The cost of living there is much higher than it is here and we will certainly have to downsize.

So Middle Florida. Nice. I'll be there in October for my honeymoon.

I've been a bit too busy to post the last few days, but congrats to everyone who is moving about the country: Cable, Shake, etc.
I'm also planning a move. I changed roles within my company and can now work full time remotely, anywhere I want to live, so I plan on relocating back to Texas this year.

Look at you guys with your exciting life moves...!
@Cable, bet you can't wait to sign up for the annual Florida Residents passholder things at WDW. That'll take a tonne of cost out of visits there.
In truly monumental life news.. I've tried to clean out my loft.
Yep, not actually managed it, but it was more of a token effort, and that counts right.
Also, our books, which aren't actually in the loft - but maybe should be if I could ever get it tidy - are taking up far too much space. Someone come and sort out my home for me. Please.

Spectral I actually love organizing so I would gladly do that if I was on your side of the pond! My sis just bought a house with her husband and I visited to do just that because she hates it.
Congrats Anna on the wfh! I'm fully remote too and at first it wasn't my favorite (dealing with students/faculty virtually isn't always the easiest) but now I really love the freedom it grants me. I get a lot more work done, can live anywhere within a reasonable time zone difference, and can take more effective breaks and avoid distractions. I love it. Biggest piece of advice is to invest in a good home office for yourself - I made mine into my comic nerd room, and it's helped my enjoyment of working from home immensely.

@ Anna— fully agree with Shakes. I’m a hybrid worker (so, twice a week I have to go in to the office), but honestly I’m way more productive at home. Stick on a podcast, I have a room that’s literally just an office that isn’t used for anything else and I don’t go in to outside of work hours, and I have a separate dog bed in there so my pooch can sit and be the office dog.
Separate note, today marks 8 whole years since I adopted my dog. When I got him, I was told he would likely never be very affectionate, would probably always be a bit nervous… and honestly it’s just been so rewarding to see him grow in to the super cuddliest dog ever (not ideal for TV watching as he’s a German shepherd cross and is HUGE), and to be a more confident and happy creature

Happy NFL Fan here. Jaguars just made the playoffs for the first time in five years! From having the worst record in the entire league last year to winning their division. Now we just need to keep Tony Khan so busy with AEW he has no time to "Help" the Jaguars.

I'm a Steelers fan and with Roethlisberger retiring it was expected that this would be a miserable rebuilding year. Honestly though it ended up not being terrible. They didn't make the playoffs but did end the season with a winning record. There is hope that we won't be mired in the type of endless search for a QB that a team like the Browns has been stuck in (they've had more than a dozen starting QBs in the last ten years!)

Cowboys made the playoffs but the eventual collapse is coming, I have no doubt.
Jacksonville making it is a big deal. It's a bit like the Indians from the movie Major League, that level of underdogs.

Big Ben defined that team for a long time. He will be a hard QB to replace.
@Anna Raven Exactly. Hopefully the Jags won't lose the first round of the Playoffs. Never made it to the Super Bowl so every year they get this far my hopes get up that this will be THE year.

Anybody else ever see people on social media talk about comics and just…not to sound elitist…but just don’t come across like they understand them? Like on Twitter it tends to be better, especially when its an older dude or a woman posting. But on Tiktok? Everything seems to be framed in power and who can beat up who…and so things get exaggerated, distorted or ignored and it just paints characters, to me, in such weird light.
Like Idk, it’s hard to explain…
So on one hand we have the existence of a being who can reset the entire timeline, destroying everything…, and on the other hand we have a few mind wipes and some gaslighting. You're right, totally evenly weighted.

My comic related tiktoks are all gay centered or they frame the X-Men in gang terms.
I really wanna blow your mind
but I haven't got the time.
