Oh horses are amazing but they can be terrifying to be around at times.

They are doing a virtual queue
I may go all the way to Florida to ride this ride and not get on. It depends on whether I can push a button on my phone faster than 10,000 other people can push a button on their phone.

So on one hand we have the existence of a being who can reset the entire timeline, destroying everything…, and on the other hand we have a few mind wipes and some gaslighting. You're right, totally evenly weighted.

So I have finally had a big question in my life answered this week. I am working alongside a guy named Guido and I now know how it’s pronounced Gweedo. I was under the impression it was guy-dow. Happy days.

Same. I can’t remember which movie it was but I know I watched one with a character called Guido and I was so confused when I saw the name at the end credits. I’d always thought it was either guy-doh or gee-doh.

Gremlin and das - clearly neither of you ever lived in NYC
In the US, sometimes we refer to buff Italian guys as a "Guido" so it's pretty well known how to pronounce it in the states, I think.

I will say when I was a kid and I learned the existence of Strong Guy, I took an immediate dislike to him (since remedied!) because his name was Guido and I only ever heard that as a somewhat derogatory term and thought that meant he was a big dumb sexist jerk. (I was like 8 or 9 sorry!)

So for those of you lucky enough to not have to use dating apps etc, let me tell you— there needs to be one that bans all filters on photos. The absolute plethora of profiles with multiple Snapchat filters applied so that a person looks like their skin is made of plastic, or that facial features have been altered beyond the recognition of what could possibly be human, or have that AWFUL filter where the word “cute” is just printed over their face several many times? We’ve reached the point where the majority of dating profile pictures don’t even look like people, they look like they’re hitting the uncanny valley where they look kind of human-ish but just not quite there enough for the resemblance to be unsettling

Even though I like the Finch massive X-Men cover he did a few years ago, nothing touches George Perez’s Avengers cover…I remember spending time trying to figure out every Avenger and then going to my LCBS to talk to the oldheads about the members and when they joined…such a great artist. Really one of the greatest…

I love that cover still. It’s the epitome of “superhero-superhero” cover. Like it’s unapologetically superhero…and great proportions and positions. I would love a Krakoan Era X-team cover like that by someone else who does great superhero-superhero art.

Re: Re: Random Thoughts
Definitely ! It's a great cover with lots of dynamism and some nice depth and angles. I also love that Quicksilver look on the back cover. Probably my favourite QS costume, and I know it wasn't a Perez design as it deputed pre-Onslaught but my word, Pietro never looked better.
The other thing I have to add is that the inks and colouring is great too.. the sheen of the metal work combined with Perez's line work is beautiful. The spandex isn't as overly highlighted as some art from that era can be, which leaves a great contrast.

now that I've gotten it into my brain I really want an MCU-based Invaders show with Hammond and Namor leading a team during WW II. Cameo Cap to help tie it in to continuity.

Re: Random Thoughts
Perhaps the camp and sassy undertones for Doctor will finally be made text…because let’s be honest 10, 11 and 12 both had moments of incredible camp that reads as kind if stereotypically gay. And I think, particularly for 10 and 11, that made them such gay icons. I know many gay, bisexual and lesbian fans who really felt a kinship with those two incarnations. So to have someone who would be outwardly that might really be ground breaking…since they’re taking forever to make 13 and Yaz a thing!das_boot wrote: ↑08 May 2022, 22:11Ohhhhh people will catch these hands. Re: Re: Random Thoughts
True, but the actor is private about his personal life. He COULD just be playing gay for Sex Education and honestly I don’t think it matters. I feel like a character as long-lived as the Doctor and whose entire gender is fluid by nature of the regeneration process would see sexuality as one of those weird human foibles anyway.
ANYWAY. I am SO excited for this casting. He can do comedy and drama so well, and honestly just CHEFS KISS casting. I REALLY hope they give him some crazy bold colours for his costuming too
EDIT: also imma argue that Doctor Who is HIGH camp. Like, it’s camp. It JUST is. It always has been. While I would HOPE that this casting isn’t *just* to have a gay doctor (I’ll also argue it’s more important that he’s the second doctor of colour, but first MAIN doctor of colour), I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t love it if he does play the role with a bit more camp thrown in
