See this just makes me more antsy to learn to play!!!!
So on one hand we have the existence of a being who can reset the entire timeline, destroying everything…, and on the other hand we have a few mind wipes and some gaslighting. You're right, totally evenly weighted.

I was actually just talking old D&D memories last night. I still say my best character was the human, older, alcoholic thief. "Two high and mighty mages with spells a plenty, a cleric with godly permission to swing a mace, and a lug who has the strength to wear right proper armor. But Noooo, I always have to go first. One way or another he'll find the traps. Patching me up don't mean a sulfur cloud doesn't hurt!"

Re: Re: Random Thoughts
Honestly if I thought we could make it work across time zones and various commitments, I’d suggest doing a UXN D+D and bring my current bard character across, just because then it gives me more of an excuse to shamelessly flirt with you all

I feel like the jock who's acidentally waded into a nerd-off.
Given my distinct lack of jock-ism, this is a very, very unusual feeling.

BC if you ever figure anything out about playing online, let me know! Wouldn't it be fun for some of us to set something up!

Re: Re: Random Thoughts
I messaged, BC about this but I'll throw it out there as well.
The store I just got hired on at is trying really hard to make a little revenue before the actual doors open by running a few online games. So if we could get a nice little group of BC, Das, Antibody, maybe Ring as well, or whoever was interested I could run a game session for you guys. Maybe we could run on Saturday mornings to offset the time difference?
Since it's through the store, there would be a small fee per person, so understandable if you don't want to go that route, but it would solve one of the major problems, which is finding an experienced DM! Plus part of that money goes into them providing me with a VTT account through either Foundry or Roll 20, plus DnD Beyond books.

Ohhhhhh I could be tempted you know! I know that I work/socialise on Saturdays but if you can figure out a time and I can work out the time difference, I’d be game!
I know I’m mostly used to playing via 3.5 but I can Google other versions

Re: Re: Random Thoughts
Oh man I use to play with a group on Roll20 (located in both US and UK) and I would love to game with you guys! But unfortunately I am going through a huge transitional phase in my life right now and probably couldn't have the stability in schedule to do it. If you guys get up and running down the line I might want to try to hop in though.

Re: Re: Random Thoughts
I still run a 3.5 edition game to this day das so we could do that, if you and Antibody would prefer. But it might also be a good opportunity to try out 5th edition. Its not really that difficult to learn if you are familiar with 3.5.
It would be nice if we could get one more player on board. I'm going to message you guys and maybe we can coordinate a way to discuss finding a time though, so keep your inboxes clear.

Absolute noob here too, honestly. I "played" 2e when I was in my early teens, and even then, it was with folks who barely had an understanding of the whole thing and just made shit up as we went along lol

Re: Re: Random Thoughts
I used to play 2nd Edition. Towards the end we incorporated a few rules from 3rd. Forgotten Realms Setting. I'd probably have to be re-taught most of it from square one lol.

Going back to this I actually thought of another franchise that was still doing as well in its 4th movie: Toy Story

Just gonna throw out one last time some of us have organized on discord that want to play D&D. If you are interested, just throw me a PM (I think some of you might have full inboxes).
But seriously, no pressure, I understand if you are rethinking the cost or the time commitment.

Re: Re: Random Thoughts
Ike Perlmutter has been fired from Disney. I really don’t see this as a bad thing. He was apparently the main instigator in Marvel not making any female/black lead films because… no one would want to see them. He’s been a thorn in a lot of peoples sides for years and I don’t think many people will shed a tear that he’s gone.
Everybody is entitled you their opinion...but yours is wrong.
Re: Re: Random Thoughts
He actively tried to drive the X-Men into the ground. Good riddance to bad rubbish.

Re: Re: Random Thoughts
A conversation I had with someone at work today who’s also a geek— who would you consider to be a worse mentor in terms of putting teenagers on the front line of combat: Xavier, or the various flavours of Power Ranger mentors?
Like, suspending disbelief that the original team were teenagers (because 90’s and those kids were NOT kids), is what Zordon et al did any better/worse than what Xavier did in terms of recruiting only teenagers?
I’d argue that Xavier is MARGINALLY better in that at least the O5 were mostly in the know about the kind of threats they’d be facing, whereas these five teenagers (two of whom were not combat trained lest we forget that Billy and Kimberly were the nerd and Valley girl gymnast respectively), were given giant robots (did they have drivers licenses?), and told “bee tee dubs? There’s an army of aliens coming for you but they’ll absolutely not use logic and attack en masse because episodic tv show following a monster of the week formula”. Like, Zordon’s tech, he could have recruited literally the most combat-ready but good-hearted people on the planet but he chose five random teenagers. Really?
At least Xavier recruited people that he knew were mutants, actively tried to recruit other mutants to bolster their team, and we saw him training them beyond “go in to battle and I’ll maybe tell you something or make new weapons or robots for you lol I dunno I’m a blue potato in a jar”
