It's one of those things that really makes me understand the concept of getting more conservative as you get older. I don't really see that for myself, but I get it a bit more.

The biggest thing to do is to take a step back and remind yourself that you were young once and you remember how it felt. Wisdom also comes with age; it's not a 100% march into conservatism.

The thing I've noticed most as I grow older is that when you are in your 20s you believe you can change humanity. That all your "let's not treat people like not-people and respect differences" is some grand new revolutionary idea and you and your peers can totally get it right.... Then you realize everyone tried that at some point in their life and the jerks will always spoil the soup.

So happy that the vaccine trial I was in looks to be a pretty safe and effective vaccine.

I couldn’t speak on it until both came out (so I wouldn’t give away which one I participated in.

So happy about this. Now if Drumpf would fucking get out the way so that Biden could actually start enacting a plan.

Three days and four seasons of „The Crown“ later I must say, Maggy Thatcher is the best thing that happened to that show.

He also voiced Miroku, the less popular English Goku, and Trowa Barton from Gundam Wing. He basically voiced a ton of my favorite cartoon characters in the early 00s.

One of those 90s horror films films I kept my hands in front if my eyes most of the time.

By any chance, do you remember that old film where a scientist or doctor removed the skin from people? One scene I remember was when a guy tried to start his car and suddenly a skinned woman appeared in the sidewindow.
Before that scene the guy sat on a hospital bed next to his girlfriend and she was missing her lower body or something and suddenly she starred at him.

Thank god nothing of that impacted my life.

As a child I spent way more time fretting about quicksand and the Bermuda triangle than I really should have...

Add bear attacks to this. We don’t even HAVE bears in this country and yet I genuinely feel like my childhood was spent preparing for the Bermuda Triangle, quicksand, or bear attacks.

I may have to call on SK or Crutey here (being of a similar age)— which cartoon was it (I’m thinking on BBC) that had an inordinate amount of episodes that happened to involve a bear attacking some people?

For me it was leeches...like not only are leeches not really that deadly (especially not one leech) but like I can count on my 1 hand how many times a suburb/city-dweller like me has actually came into contact with one...

Quicksand might be the single real physical thing that childhood movies and cartoons have mischaracterized more than any other thing...like I thought quicksand was every where, very fast and inescapable without some deus ex machina to save you.

I honestly have NO fecking idea what this could be.

The only bears in cartoons that I can think of from my youth were Paddington and Rupert. Neither of whom strike me as something that would put the fear of God into a child when watching, I must admit.

EDIT: Oh and Superted. But again...same applies. Spotty on the other hand was a total freak.

In America, fear of clowns is less a thing hypercharged by children’s media and more kind of a part of our milieu of “hey clowns can be very creepy”.

The Bermuda Triangle, meanwhile was just ridiculously pushed on kids lol

Knightmare was neither a cartoon OR on BBC.

I'm not even convinced it had bears in it. The crazed undead? Yup. Devious (read: unplayable) traps? Definitely. Utterly clueless child contestants that makes rewatching old episodes a guilty pleasure as they fall to their doom / killed by a wizard. Oh yeah.

But bears? No chance of getting Knightmare from that description.
