Saga Spoiler Thread

Post by XtremeOne1 » 25 Aug 2018, 17:16

So I've been getting back into comics lately, and I started with Saga. I'm all caught up now!

Holy shit, what a terrific and fun comic. The characters are fantastic, the art is amazing and the plot is awesome. Sure, there are a couple slow arcs here and there that were slow but overall, I felt the story has made at an excellent pace.

Most of all, I just love the character, which makes Marko's death all harder! OMG. Literally my jaw dropped, I gasped then I got really sad. And we have to wait a year for resolution. I'm not ready for Alanna and Hazel to find out!

Man, I was gutted about Marko dying. The cast was decimated in the last couple of issues. I think it was high time, though, because the comic has been kind of spinning its wheels for a while now.

I had fallen behind (last read #36 when the TPB came out?) and the news of it going on hiatus pushed me to read it all and catch up. Which was a mistake of course because now there's a year-long hiatus ending on the death of two of (arguably) the three main characters.

I definitely agree though that the book has been sort of circling for awhile, so hopefully the big cast changes will be the change needed to get things moving again.

I agree the overall story has felt stalled for a while. I’m hoping the decimating of the cast indicates the current set up will be resolved shortly, and we can fast forward to Hazel’s teen years. I also really hope Vaughn has an endgame planned. I didn’t know about the hiatus, and it makes me sad. I want this title to have a clear beginning, middle, and end, and not try to be an open-ended soap with no direction.

The saga universe has possibilities for outward expansion, and it doesn’t have to be all in the context of Hazel’s story. Hazel’s story should be defined, not open ended.

Woot!

I was starting to think it was going to be decades, and when it came back it would barely resemble the original. Like season 3 of Twin Peaks.

This summer I loaned my trades to a friend for his cross-country flight home. I figured I’d get the. back when I see him next in a year or so. But with this news I wanted to re-read the whole series, so I got an e-copy from Amazon. The whole 54 issue run is available as Compendium 1 for $25.

I actually finished reading Saga was this year when i bought the last trade, so its all fresh in my memory. Hopefully it will come back in full swing and catch up the momentum it had.

Not lying.

Yeah, it’s that kind of book.

Any news on this front?
So on one hand we have the existence of a being who can reset the entire timeline, destroying everything…, and on the other hand we have a few mind wipes and some gaslighting. You're right, totally evenly weighted.

Six issues came out, though I think there's been a delay with the 7th. It's still soooooooo good.
