Capt. America #12

The book has actually hit a point where now I’m fully engaged and will actually re-read the first 11 issues again because things my hit harder.

Coates is writing this book in a decompressed style that isn’t as dominant as it once was (Ewing, Slott and Spencer pack alot into their books each week). But I think the one thing that allows this book to stay afloat even while having less happen each issue is that there are very large ideas at work here. I initially thought Coates, given his writing in the amazing Reparations essay, would be alot more cynical with his portrayal of Steve but I like that this feels like the same guy who was in Brubaker’s and Remender’s book.

And that last page reveal? I don’t think I’ve ever been that shocked in forever by a last page reveal.
Morrison Era 2001-2005, Decimation Era from 2005-2012, Bendis Era 2012-2016, M-Pox era 2016-2017, and Resurrxion 2017-2019, Hickman Era 2019-?

Coates writes all his titles in a decompressed manner. This book is actually barreling forward compared to his current Black Panther volume lol

This run has not really grabbed me but I agree that last page reveal was a stunner.

I mean, how old is Sharon now? We have the mid- 30s something muscular Captain America and the older Sharon.

That’s like a buffed Chris Evens doing a toyboy film with Cybill Shepherd.
