Avengers #1

JED IS IN THE BUILDING!

This was a great first issue. I love that he managed to bring you up to speed in a way that feels natural. And frankly I like how he writes the team. This was an even better start than Hickman’s run…honestly, I gotta say it reminds me of classic Avengers but still nothing feels regressed.
So on one hand we have the existence of a being who can reset the entire timeline, destroying everything…, and on the other hand we have a few mind wipes and some gaslighting. You're right, totally evenly weighted.

This was super cute. It wasn’t anything groundbreaking, but what “gathering the team” issue ever is? The art was great, the writing was slick, I dig this team.

Assuming that Carol's vision of what the Avengers should be is Jed's vision of what the Avengers should be, I am so excited! Firefighters, not cops. I absolutely love the way the writes Carol, Tony, and T'Challa. I also like that he imposed some practical limitations on Wanda.

I’m glad someone else picked up on this line. I enjoyed it, but it also reminded me of Judd Winick’s run on Outsiders (Post Infinite Crisis). In one of the issues after OYL where the team are on the run and presumed to be criminals, Nightwing threatens Superman with kryptonite while telling him that the Justice League’s hands are too big, and they don’t need any more firefighters. Considering that the Avengers are the Marvel counter to the JL, it was interesting to me to see this allusion crop up again.
