I'd say alot of characters are simply analogues of eachother for different universes.  The key here might not be how to integrate everyone, but who to omit.

A few quick ideas:  Elijah Snow would be a wonderful White King of the Hellfire Club.Gen 13 would be a great mix with the leftover kids from X-Force/Gen XAnd how about a crossover between the Watchmen and the Ultimates?

Integrating an original character into a team book is difficult.  It can be done, but it takes a commitment to make sure the new character is simply part of the team and not a new focus for it.

As far as I know, Franklin's aging as fast as anyone should given the time-lapse of the MU.  Don't go by the Calvin & Hobbes books; I'm pretty sure they're not to be taken in continuity.  I'd say he's 10-ish.
