Re: May Solicits

I....love all of this. That Northstar cover is beautiful. And while I'm not a Portacio fan, I love the power poses we are getting from our new Black/White kings. Mystique in a white power suit for President, please. Oh, and Rogue, Queen of Thieves? Marry me, Kelly Thompson (or just be my best gal pal)

Re: Captain Marvel

I'm very happy that they all seem to note the VILLAIN is the breakout character (and Goose the cat). Marvel routinely gets criticized for its villains on film, minus Thanos and Loki. I feel that's a really good sign.

Re: Uncanny X-men #11

We're all glad you're still around, das. *heart* This issue was...rough. I can't comment on it much because it hit really close to home and I'm kind of still processing it. Which I think means it was a very good issue. I think this will go down in the X-mythos as one of those historical single issue...

Re: Emma Frost - I stand corrected

Nu-D I kinda forgot about those :( But yeah, Paul Smith's kimonos were great too, and even just Storm's "costume" change which really was just her going into a punk civilian look is an example of fashion being used to denote a character's personality. Kitty always wore really slouchy sweaters or col...

I just want to give a shout out to the colorist and artist. The colors helped give it that Civil Rights Era vibe and I LIVE for that.

Re: Uncanny X-men Annual #1

I don't read any Wolverine titles because I find him immensely boring outside of a team setting (like how I feel about Cable). That said, I never thought it felt forced as something he'd do, but it sure felt forced in a "what kind of Wolverine do we want to read about" way. The kiddy hijinks, the fo...

Re: Emma Frost - I stand corrected

I mean, Anka also knows who to dress unfashionably. Like Chase in Runaways - he's wearing plaids and wife beaters and looks like a mechanic. It's his personality. Different characters will express themselves through their clothing choices differently. I actually think Cockrum was good at that. Storm...

Re: Uncanny X-men Annual #1

Fenix, no shade. I legit didn't know what you were arguing. Your back and forth with BC got me confused. I just heartily disagree with thinking that the Scott of the 80's was somehow morally superior to modern Scott. Modern Scott had a hit squad, but 80's Scott cheated on and abandoned his wife and ...

Re: Emma Frost - I stand corrected

Anka says on his Twitter he follows fashion closely because he sees it intrinsic to bringing out a character's personality through his art. I wish more comic artists saw it that way.

Re: Emma Frost - I stand corrected

I'm excited for that too, Insipid. And I love all your points about Emma. I like her friendships/relationships with Bobby, Hank, Scott, and Sean. But it is frustrating she has no real relationships with other women that aren't outright antagonistic. It's honestly one of the things that began to sour...

Re: Uncanny X-men Annual #1

Honestly I don't know what the argument is anymore. If you don't like the path Cyclops has taken, that's fine, but it's pretty weird to me to say it isn't in character or imply he is somehow a bad guy. I know not everyone on this board likes the minority stand-in metaphor version of the X-Men, but I...

Re: Uncanny X-men Annual #1

Well I liked the proactive Cyclops and it definitely isn't out of character for him. Sure, it's nice he wants to save a human, but I'll tell you right now if I was a mutant leader when Bastion resurrected a bunch of dead mutant hating humans with the TO virus, I would've made a team of killers to hu...

Re: April Solicitations

I sure hope that Bachalo cover isn't done yet because 1. It's awful and 2. Maggot ain't a white dude.

But looks fun in the X-line. Also War of Realms looks fun as hell too, and that Dauterman cover is amazing.

Re: Extermination #5

This issue was printed on paper and had characters in it and things happened. That’s literally my take away from this issue and this story. Not that the writing was bad, but the writing team were left in a situation where they had to fix terrible writing and plotting by Bendis, so... yeah. Not over...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #6

Didn't care for this issue. I agree with the others that the Warren story feels tired at this point, it's been done before and a lot better. Not to mention it completely ignores his gift from X over in Astonishing. And I'm not really a fan of X-Man's obstinance in explaining things... first with Ki...

Re: Extermination #5

I won't get to ready this for a while yet. Do the adult O5 now have the memoires of the Young O5? That could be a little weird for Angel, looking at teenage X-23 and remembering his relationship with her from years ago (from his perspective). Akwies! Omigod eww. But he's probably into it. He ...

Rosenberg confirmed on Twitter, no Warlock, that's Karma in the hood, and it's Wolfsbane, so no Primal. So I'm stoked for that weird lineup. I hate Hope but good lord she needs a story to make her worth all that trouble for those long, long 8 years. And anything that brings Karma, Dani, and Rahne ba...

Oh I didn't know about that stuff Cable :(
I would've liked it more if it was just the party, for sure, but we set up some future stuff here. I'm just glad Cecilia was included since she's a friend of Gambit's. Betsy apparently couldn't be bothered to come to the party though.

Re: Weapon X #27 (Final Issue)

I like psycho Sabes, personally. His heroic turn is fine, but honestly...that was AoA Sabes. We already have that character. I think he's way more compelling as a straight up sociopath with few ties to humanity because he just doesn't CARE and that's fascinating. He's been scary as hell in some appe...

Betsy should've done the lot of us a favor and cleaved Warren clean in half. No need to worry any further about "lack of peace" (god Warren is so melodramatic when for someone whose traumas are really pretty tame compared to most of his mainstream peers lmao sorry) or battling with the big, scary w...

I loved everything about this except the art. I know a lot of people like Perez but...he just isn't for me. And after the last artist, I was really sad he was on the book when all the characters guest and it's all about emotions. His art is too...I dunno, they all look like the Joker to me.

Go look at the Black Panther thread. There are months between some posts. The trailer came out and there were about 7 posts talking about it, before about a 4 month gap with no posts. It capped out at 5 pages. This is already at 11 with only the last 2 or so being the current discussion. I'm not su...

Re: Captain Marvel

Apparently a superhero movie about a woman is so friggin rare that the thread can't even be about it but has to be about the lack of representation of not only women but other minorities, and how racism/sexism may/may not actually exist or be warranted. I'm sorry but if that isn't telling, than I do...
