what are you reading?

Actually, I read that six. And loved it. The movie has Michael Cera, right? And you're in a book club? I should join one. The only book clubs I know of around where I am though is the Oprah one. And I've already read half the stuff she reccommends.   Oh, and Crutey, I like a lot of stuff. Classic, m...

what are you reading?

Well, Chaz, finished "Manhood"...it was ok. It was pretty much an series of events in Chabon's life that relate to his fatherhood, being a son, being a husband, and, well being a comic book nerd. I think it's a well written book, it's just not my favorite of his. I like novels, though, and not a lot...

what are you reading?

Kavalier and Clay is my favorite modern novel. And that's saying a lot, considering it centers around two male protagonists, and not a female. Wonder Boys is good, and Yiddish Policeman's Union is okay...and is being made into a movie by the Cohen brothers.

what are you reading?

I love Two Gentlemen of Verona, but it is one that is def. better when you see it performed, kind of like Measure for Measure and Midsummer Night's Dream. I think my favorite Shakespeare plays to read are Twelfth Night, King Lear, and Romeo and Juliet. They really move when read. Are you reading the...

Year of the D-Lister

I loved Marrow. She was like the only ugly female X-character ever, and I loved the X-Men Unlimited issue where she and Kitty went at it and her inner monologue was really touching. And I loved Cecilia. Maggott was just...interesting concept, but he didn't really do much.   Looks like the Brood are ...

what are you reading?

Going through my list and just read the 1st of Charlaine Harris's Sookie Stackhouse novels (a la "True Blood"), Dead and Gone. Not the greatest book, obviously, but I can honestly say it was one of the sexiest novels I've ever read, besides Pride and Prejudice. I felt like I needed to make out with ...

what are you reading?

Totally nerdy of me, but I was going through all my old books a couple weeks ago and saw all the old series I had (Babysitter's Club, Goosebumps) and came across Animorphs. I only got about a third of the way through them, so I picked them up and decided to finish. They each take about 90 minutes to...

Necrosha...the undead lists...SPOILERS
Talk about obscure...I had to look Lois up on wiki just to remember who she was.
That implies you knew who she was in the first place. I didn't, and I love both Rogue and Dazzler. Now I just want to see Rogue slap her again and Dazzler guest star in Legacy. Thanks character...

So...Matt Fraction...

One simple sentence: I've had better.   I think Frac has great ideas, but his execution makes it seem as if his heart is not in this title. Characters have no connection to each other or their own selves, are all too similar, the "giving time to Northstar, Dazz, and Karma" that people mention to me ...

Favorite X-Men Era

I started reading in the mid nineties, although then only issues with Rogue; became a regular i think in 2000. Which led me to collect older comics. So I'd say the era I was second to read would be my favorite (1983-1991); then AoA because that was a sweet crossover; then the recent era, where Aston...

I think it makes a huge difference when/how you read this....   For example, I never had ANY introduction to Maddie before I read this. I hadn't read any X-comics that weren't from 1997 and after, except for the first 6 or so issues of X-Men (adj. less). I also had read three old storylines...Dark P...

Review a movie whose title reminds you of X-Men

I love Parker Posey!

And you know, EMP, as long as you enjoy those SciFi movies for what they are, I suppose a marathon would be ok. Make sure we have enough popcorn though.

True Blood

So I just started watching season 1 on DVD...and I love this show! Except it got awkward when I was at my parents house for the weekend and I brought it along and...well, I'm sure you guys know how much sex is on this show.   Anna Paquin has great boobs.   Can't wait to get caught up with all you gu...

EMP, do yourself a favor and STOP watching sci-fi movies. I saw this one called "Pterodactyl!"
It made me want to vomit, eat my vomit, and vomit again. That's all I have to say.

Review a movie whose title reminds you of X-Men

Beauty and the Beast: The "tale as old as time" about a young girl who's smarter than everyone in her podunk town, who gives up everything to save her father, and falls in love with a hairy older man with a tail. Various kitchen objects sing and dance, and in the end it was made into a broadway musi...

Whose the Best X-Villian

I'm for Mystique. The other thing that makes her so compelling, besides everything mentioned, is that you can never tell if her feelings are genuine or not. We all know she loves Rogue, but nobody knows what that means to her. I mean, she stabbed her own daughter that she supposedly loves, threw her...

Wow...the hate on the Rogue/Gambit pair is amazing considering they're one of the X-Men's major couples. You know, if writer's get them right, they're very nice together...   Warpath/Hepzibah  Just eww... Cyclops/Goblin Queen-if only cuz I love Maddie and hopes she kicks his uptight booty Storm/Colo...
