Re: Crisis On Infinite Earths!

This is the third time I’ve taken up watching the CW shows after a long break. Every time, it’s immediately apparent how terrible the acting, scripting, directing, plotting, action and effects are. And every time, after the fourth or fifth episode of a binge, that awfulness starts to blur, and I get...

Re: Crisis On Infinite Earths!

Just think, in some countries, it's illegal for pharmas to advertise. As it was here until the late 1990’s. Who’s the female character in the blue & light blue costume? You might be interested to know, she's a trans woman, played by a trans actress. Cool. Never heard of the actress or the character...

Re: Crisis On Infinite Earths!

Isn't that most pharma advertising? Maybe. But if the advert played only once a week or so, I’d remember the brand and the illness, but not the laundry list of horrifying side effects. Anyhow, I forgot how bad these shows are. Nonetheless, it’s been fun to watch. Except for Benoist’s bangs. Whose b...

Re: Crisis On Infinite Earths!

I don’t care how pretty the actors are or how upbeat the music is, if you play the same Xeljanz advert 6 times in a 45 minute episode, all I’m going to remember is “tears in the stomach and intestine,” “cancers, including lymphoma,” and “increased risk of death.” Jesus, what a terrible marketing ca...

Re: Digital comics

I’m still really f—- aggravated with the e-reader situation. I have piles and piles of CBR and CBZ files stored in iCloud. I’m using Chunky as a reader app on my iPad, and it’s OK for reading. But for sorting and organizing, I work on my Mac desktop, and I want to use the basic finder app. The probl...

Re: The Mutant Registration Act (debate)

People here don’t want to register their guns because they fear the government will come and take them away...now imagine that but the guns are potentially their children? Not going to happen...the people who typically favor gun rights have an oversized impact in the Senate and if they made that co...

Re: The Mutant Registration Act (debate)

If I were a legislator seeking to regulate mutant powers and protect the public, there are a number of things that could pass constitutional muster, and this be consistent with the right of the people to be free. (I'm going to leave out non-mutant superpowers for now). Criminal laws pertaining to th...

Re: The Mutant Registration Act (debate)

I would oppose a mutant registration act because it is the antithesis of living in a free society. The very essence of a free society is to be free from government monitoring, unless you forfeit that freedom through your own actions. There are effective methods for minimizing the harms caused by mut...

If a woman tells me what menstruation is like, I’ll take her word for it because it’s an experience I’ll never have. If a person of color tells me what it’s like to be a person of color, I’ll take their word for it because it’s an experience I’ll never have. I don’t get to deny that colorism exists,...

Re: New Mutants film announced!

Flash is a well known part of the Spider-Man mythos and has an inetresting history, yes there are different kinds of bullies so just name him something else, no fan of the character would have an issue and nobody would have to keep making pointless justifications for the unecessary change. Cecelia ...

Re: New Mutants film announced!

The difference is that the Flash in the MCU occupies the same role as the Flash in 616–he’s the bully in Peter’s class. Continuing the name makes sense to connect the two characters to establish the role using clear signals to the audience. Cecelia, on the other hand, is a very different character w...

Re: X-MEN ROSTER (Part 1)

This is tremendous. Good work and thank you. I wonder, in light of HoX/PoX, does Moira deserve mention as a “member” of the X-Men at a very early stage? How about Amelia Voight and Sage? Also, is it still possible that Charles mindwiped the Deadly Genesis team from Moira’s memory? That’s seems...unl...

Re: New Mutants film announced!

Are you effing kidding me, I'm clearly not defending race-swapping because they clearly haven't been race swapped, even if you're unhappy about the actors not being 'dark enough' it's again in no way 'whitewashing' because the actors clearly aren't white. There have been untold established white ch...

I like very few horror films but I'll probably go see it for completionist sake. I hope it's not a slasher flick at least.
Well, unless Fox is like, “fuck it, the franchise is dead anyhow,” I think we can be confident the five protagonists survive the film.

Re: New Mutants film announced!

I won’t lie, the trailer looks good. But I am so sick of X-Men movies being dark. The MCU won me over with bright colors and upbeat characters; black costumes and grim personalities are not gonna reel me in. And since I don’t care for horror movies generally, this still isn’t going to get me in the ...

I disagree. I think it normalises it more to have same same-sex couples featured with other couples, without fanfare. I agree with this statement, and support the effort. I just didn’t think it was really done very well here, mostly because I didn’t see “other couples” kissing. Maybe I missed it an...

Did anyone notice the lesbian kiss near the end when all the Resistance are celebrating? Was Palpatine’s design inspired by Cameron Hodge?

This film was fine. It would have been better if it had some room to breathe. Too frenetic, and the audience never had a moment to sit with any of the story beats.
