Re: Eternals

I think we're getting an Eternals movie because they want to have it in place before DC launch a New Gods one and it looks like they're 'copying' I also really think the best thing to do would be put Thanos in it as the villain. Basically go after Endgame 'You like Thanos...now he's over here and he...

Re: Hickman return confirmed! Will it be on X-men?

I'm looking forward to this. I'm hoping it gives X-Men a bit of direction...I honestly feel that in the past years (a long time really) X titles have just been treading water with no real direction- hopefully this will give it that back

Re: Captain Marvel

I think honestly I just wanted more from it: -More of Starforce/Kree life to set up Carol's worldview -More time showing her and Mar-Vell, everyone online seems to be talking about how much she was a mentor to Carol etc when really we saw 1-2 interactions in which it seemed very much like a business...

Re: Captain Marvel

Saw it, it was ok. Its in the bottom end of the Marvel movies, better than the bad ones but not as good as the good ones....I'd say its the weakest of Phase 3 (maybe on par with Doctor Strange)...better than Iron Man 2/Thor 2 but not as good as any of the other ones since Thor 2 (maybe Ultron) It wa...

Re: Avengers #12

I almost feel like Jan had retired and she's like the old guard.

I think a group like her, Jarvis....and others I can't think of currently should be like a Superhero ethics panel/spokespeople in general and be decision makers for the community

I wanted to write it as a story myself at one point....BUT I am 100% in on Spider-Man life story! What if Spidey had aged alongside his comic!

I think Millar does that in his style though- 6 quick issues with world building in the margins/characters and cool moments being the main focus

Re: Aquaman

It's not alone in my other gripe but they don't do a lot of tell us when Arthur is in danger. Like he can be thrown through something, into something and do masses of damage to it and be fine...then other times he's hurt, just took me out of it My take on that was he was pretty resistant if not imp...

Re: Aquaman

It's decent...not especially amazing, maybe not even good but not a train wreck like Justice League and Superman Vs Batman. I liked it was more of an adventure movie (I can't think of many super-hero films which get close to that?) The big issue is pacing which given its already a longish super-hero...

Re: 100 Comic Stories to Read Before You Die

No one asked...but I thought I'd see if I could think of important/interesting/beloved runs of my own...these are the first 100 I thought of/I looked around my living room at my book shelves. Maybe not the 100 best or the 100 most influential (I can't stand DKR so its not here) but just generally 10...

Re: Rebellion and British Comics

Zenith was years ahead of its time and very Morrison. Takes the standard tropes and ideas of comic teen heroes and twists them this way and that.

It gets a bit weird towards the end but I would say give it a go

Looking forward to seeing how it develops.

Magic Order

Anyone reading this? Its Millar's usual stuff where he just writes amazing ideas. SPOILERS.... In the space of 3 pages a magician flips a car giving a henchman brain damage, turns back time and threatens them with restoring the time-line they were just in (and he can only turn back time once). Then ...

Re: Avengers 4

I know obviously I'm free to avoid them but I would love it if this was the only trailer...no spoilers, no clips of action, nothing. Hell they don't even need this trailer. If they just had a 10second flash between the other trailers saying 'coming April...whatever' it would still be a smash hit rec...

I will read and discuss this as soon as I can...my girlfriend can't watch horror so its on a slow go with me fitting it in when I can. It's great so far (4 episodes in) I've heard good things about the guys movies so I'll be watching them too

Re: 'Hidden gems'

Maybe Dirk is more niche then I thought. I do like some Douglas Adams. Show with a more straightforward narrative that I liked is lovesick about guy who is trying to find " the one" and has to contact all his ex lovers when he gets std. I really enjoyed the show. I do however think they wimped out,...

Fantastic Four 3-4 (just the X-Men related stuff) SPOILERS

I'm enjoying Slott's run (I do love Slott's writing though) anyway: They fight a dimension hopping villain who destroys universes. They summon all of the ex-members of the F4 (Storm, Wolverine and ICEMAN?) to fight her....and they beat her with brains threatening to destroy her technology and strand...

Spider-Man from the beginning

I've started a blog about comics! My first little quest is to re-read and review/discuss/joke about where necessary the full Stan Lee run on Spider-Man. (It was a toss up between this and Sandman...Sandman would need a lot more time so I thought I'd cut my teeth with my favourite super-hero) What is...

'Hidden gems'

What is your TV (or movie...but I think that would be massive) hidden gem that you loved but you don't think many people will have seen/accessed? I thought about this today when thinking about 'The Almighty Johnsons'. The show is a bit like JMS Thor run/Gaiman's Eternals...except a New Zealand comed...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #2

I enjoyed this issue more than most recent X issues.

Good fun dialogue.

I also love the idea (even if it was just one image...a whole scene played out in my head) of seeing some mass growing from a satellite shot and then zooming in to see its Madrox multiplying exponentially. Just a good image

Re: The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina

I never really get what "camp" is. Intentionally cheesy/overly dramatic/ironically bad. Self-aware and self-deprecating.....but not to the point of parody if that makes sense. It is the love of the exaggerated, the "off," of things-being-what-they-are-not. Campy is a really hard word to define! It ...

Re: The X-Men Come Home to Marvel

Many people seem to find it hard to imagine X-Men being intergrated into the MCU and I just think of a total reboot is the best. It's a secret school where Xavier has been training mutants for a period of time. He's got his X-Men and he's got his younger class. Mutants are still relatively uncommon-...

Iron Man 2 *SPOILERS*

I'm really enjoying Slott's run so far! He's doing great on Iron Man like he did on Spider-Man, Silver Surfer....and the Initiative (mentioned for reasons in a second). There's a discussion of the ethics of using AI in the Iron Man suits (I have wanted a Robo-rights storyline for a while. So Jocasta...
