Re: The Nevers

The distribution of the "terrigan mists" are probably one of the interesting parts to me. Is the distribution guided "divinely" either by an alien force or whatever we attribute the UFO to. I am curious if as the plot develops there is some other guideline that accounts for the main exceptions to re...

The Nevers

The series premiere of “The Nevers” aired on HBO Max last night and it’s pretty good. I had some reservations watching, given the allegations against Joss Whedon of creating a hostile work environment and abuse that seem to be supported by the talent across multiple projects, however I decided to wa...

Re: Excalibur #18

Liked this issue a lot. I knew that wasn't our Betsy, but I'm still unclear on what exactly is happening. Are there three of them? Rachel (who looks marvelous here) confirms that our first Betsy *seems* to be from 616, with quiet memories of Krakoa, and *seems* normal, but it's clear she's not by th...

Re: X-Force #17

This was the most I've enjoyed X-Force and it took me by surprise given my lukewarm relationship with Quentin Quire. I love him and hate him. He's got a lot of complexity and heart here that he's lacked since his days in New X-Men. The psychic residue scenes depicted in the survivors minds is probab...

Re: SWORD #3

I have been reading SWORD haphazardly. I don't really know what it's all about. I haven't followed this invasion story. I don't really know a lot of these characters. Having said that, this issue was awesome. Beautiful art that really reflected emotion be it concern, fear, anxiety, steadfast resolve...

I happen to love Feron. Whenever I played him in the Betrayal Game, I was always killed first. He's a fun little brat. Thanks for the article.

Re: Excalibur #17

I didn’t mean to complain about the cast necessarily. I love Rogue. Rictor and Gambit aren’t my favorites but I’ve always liked them. I always enjoyed Jubilee up until she lost her powers and became a vampire or whatever. I simply meant to note that I was surprised to find myself agreeing with an an...

Re: Excalibur #17

I liked this a lot and enjoyed the tension between Betsy and Kwannon. I also had the feeling that perhaps that was not 616 Betsy who returned...but we shall see. Wisdom convinced me that Rictor, Jubilee, Gambit, and Rogue don’t really have a place in this book. It would have been nice to draw from m...

Marvel Anime: X-Men on Netflix

Marvel Anime: X-Men is now available on Netflix. I couldn't find a topic for this series after a search, so hopefully it doesn't exist. Is anyone watching? It's an adaptation with a feel like Astonishing X-Men, although Shadowcat is replaced on the team roster with Storm. In addition, it lacks the t...

Re: "Song of Ice and Fire" Discussions

The issue with prophecy is always the interpretation. I have to re-order copies of the series as I lost them in a breakup. There are a few great youtube channels and podcasts that are just super great and I have been relying on them heavily during quarantine.

Re: The Boys

I like this a great deal although I didn't love this second season as much as the first. It certainly inspired me to want to read the comics, although I never ended up ordering them at all. I think the super realness is so refreshing but season two felt a little more sloppy than the first.

I'm excited for this even though Gal Gadot continues to prove she's problematic. I think we'll be seeing a lot of pre transformation Cheetah, which is exciting because I adore Kristin Wiig. Pedro Pascal is always great too.

Re: Disney + Rewatch: X-Men: TAS

I came to post the same info, EMP. That's sad. He really provided an iconic depiction of Cyclops that I think influences many of the adaptions we see on screen. Rest in superpower!

2020 is the worst.

Re: what are you reading?

I just finished "Freedom" by Jonathan Franzen and I wanted to write a quick note about it. It seems to be a quite popular novel, as I see copies regularly. It Is oddly endearing, witting, and humorously scathing. However, I haven't seen a book so unapologetically adopt the position that the human co...

Re: New Mutants film announced!

I'm so disappointed this isn't just going to be released on a streaming platform. I am more than happy to buy it and view it rather than go to a theatre right now....which I know I won't. I'm going have to wait for it to come out anyway.

Re: Batwoman

So, this show is available on HBO Max so I started watching. Honestly, Ruby Rose is part of the problem. She’s flat and doesn’t show much range except for the angry angle which she pulls off with moderate success. Is anyone else tired of the missing hero trope? Bruce Wayne and Batman have each been ...

Re: Marauders #11

I'd have to go look at those initial appearances, but I recall her holding her breath as a nervous response and as an explanation for why she couldn't phase indefinitely in a solid object like a wall or earth, because she'd run out of air. I'd suggest it's murky at best because we know that in her f...

Re: Marauders #11

Isn't Kate's natural state intangible? It wasn't so because of traumatic injury it was merely discovered as a result of traumatic injury. So, healing to her body or a new body doesn't change her natural composition. My understanding of this dilemma is that as Kurt said, "There is something unique ab...

Re: Disney + Rewatch: X-Men: TAS

It seemed wasteful to have a relative of Jean Grey who does absolutely nothing and in some ways it detracts from the uniqueness and deeply personal drive Xavier has - to bridge the gap between humanity and mutants - by having an ancestor have dabbled in this reality first. But, there is something ab...

Re: X-Force #11

This was lackluster. I agree with the criticisms that Krakoa's defenses. For all the talent that resides on that island and the advancements both technological and biological, this 'team' is just getting spanked and made to look foolish. I would have really enjoyed a duration of time where this worl...

I had to think about this issue and digest it before I could comment. I liked it. At first, I felt the resolution to Kate's resurrection dilemma was not satisfactory, but now I like it a lot. Maybe she's unique amongst those who phase in that she has a default state of intangibility, in that she has...

Season 5, Episode 9 “Descent” September 6, 1997 This appears to have aired one week before the last episode, so I’m curious why online sources have made this last, final dispute between air date and viewing order. Let’s see if we can spot any reason at all! I’m also curious why the writers may have ...
