Re: Excalibur #1 (Spoilers)

I think of it as an awkwardness bred from intimacy that is gone. They’ve each inhabited the others body, their DNA has mixed through science and magic, they each adopted the others identity and coupled with the same partner(s). Add a dash of all the mutual bodily horror that was inflicted on each of...

Re: Excalibur #1 (Spoilers)

I enjoyed this as well, and didn't catch a lot of the continuity errors as I've been out of the game for a while. I am finding the current take on Betsy interesting - as in I never considered her return to her original body would cause her to reflect on her life choices while she was in Kwannon's. F...

Re: Marauders #1 (SPOILERS)

I liked this. It set a fun and lighthearted tone and in general, I like this cast. The art sold me a lot more than the story. I found the panels to be well conceived and executed and showing a lot more subtext than what we've seen in X-Men past. I especially loved the visual movement in Kitty's conv...

Re: Watchmen TV Series

Watching this made me realize that I wasn't really understanding the nuisances of the comic or even the movie at the times I watched it. I understood that I wasn't really getting everything, but this heightened it for me … a lot. Plus, it's been years since I either read or watched Watchman. Even wi...

Re: Monolith's Power Descriptions

It just took me a long time to make the distinction in my mind between being born with knowledge of a past life as a unique event from transferring new knowledge back at a later but also earlier time.

Re: Monolith's Power Descriptions

Monolith, if we know or have any basis to know, can you explain this sentence, "Furthermore, it has been speculated that Moria's X-gene still activates at puberty like a normal mutant. And so, while she always is born with her prior knowledge, the ability to cast her knowledge back in time doesn't a...

Re: Excalibur Teaser...

This to me presents the essential problem that reboots have - if it's not going to match the fan expectations of the original, why not just rename it and start from scratch? I'm a huge Excalibur fan and read the original series faithfully through the first run but it's essentially two different seri...

Re: Game of Thrones

Oh, I totally missed the idea that Arya's journey parallels Nymeria's. That's neat I guess. I also agree with you LimboMaster, that Sansa's bid for independence was not executed well. I wrote as much in my original write up for this episode albeit not as eloquently- as you.

Re: Game of Thrones

The resolution of Sansa's storyline is one of the only things I really liked about the finale. I had to shush my friend's boyfriend during the episode when he was making comments about Sansa. Sansa kept her eye on the finish line by remembering the goals of her people, a Northern kingdom independent...

Re: Game of Thrones

I found this laughable. With the exception of the first 40 or so minutes, I don't think I have much praise for this episode and conclusion at all. I'll try not to repeat the same points that everyone has already made, but the resolution to most of the plot points are so unsatisfactory. First, the ep...

Re: Game of Thrones

I've been reading a lot of articles and many discuss (although not at length) how Cersei's death was poorly done. I understand the idea that in terms of bad guys getting what they deserve, Cersei's death was wholly unsatisfying. I find it somewhat satisfying as it is more true to life that we don't ...

Re: Game of Thrones

There is a litany of videos circulating online now each with supporting evidence of times Daeneyrs proclaims she will not be the "Queen of the Ashes" and others where she is promising to "Bring Fire and Blood" and "Burn their cities to the ground!" supporting whatever position people are taking rega...

Re: Game of Thrones

I know this is a controversial take, but it aligns with my understanding of happened last night. She crucified hundreds of masters, not because they were slave owners, but because she was angry that *some* of them chose to crucify the children. We learn from Hizzdar that his father was among those t...

Re: Game of Thrones

I agree more time would be ideal. But, Dany has executed innocents en mass before. She said herself, "Who amongst us in innocent? Perhaps, I'll let my dragons decide." I'm sad for her, but for a series built on round, flawed characters, it's one of many tragic blunders. I won't be viewing her as a "...

Re: Game of Thrones

I am going to be the minority here and say I liked this episode, in fact I am almost ready to say I loved it. One thought that keeps going through my mind regarding all our favorites and the criticism that the final season has destroyed character arcs is that ultimately, that many of these character...

Re: CW's Roswell, New Mexico

I fell behind in watching, but finally got around to the final two episodes of Season 1 last night. I didn't realize the show was on Netflix already. Can you believe ? I'd agree that this went too fast and we lost a potential fun, re-occurring villain in Noah. I really wanted to see more of the alie...

Re: Game of Thrones

I love the books so much and would absolutely recommend you try them. I was not a fantasy reader before (or after really) but I've read them twice. I need to get myself a "new" set as well as I had lent them out to my ex's sister-in-law before a break up. So I'm debating which set to get.

Until this week, I had never seen even a few seconds of this show or read a word in any of the books. I was in the room while this episode was playing, and I have to say, it looked terrible.
Haha, way to give it a fair shot.

Re: Game of Thrones

The more I think about this episode the more I hate it, even though there were small, minor beats I liked mostly happening in the front half of the episode. I'm not even sure how to coherently write about the issues, and I think a character breakdown is the best way. The funeral and feasting scenes ...

Re: Game of Thrones

I agree with regard to motivations and understanding the Night King as well. That is an important piece for me. I'm also unsure about the survival rate. I had assumed we'd get more supporting character deaths. Good points.

Re: Game of Thrones

Spoilers below in my thoughts My initial response was one of disappointment, however as I review the episode in my mind today, I am slowly realizing some of the highlights of "The Long Night". Re: Game of Thrones

I read some interesting speculation regarding the crypts online this morning. Did Ned's bones ever arrive to Winterfell in the Show? I vaguely recall a scene in Season 2 where Catelyn accepts the bones and sends them on their way. I don't particularly want to see the dead rise in the crypts but it s...

Well, I get why she brought them in from her POV, I'm curious why the writers did so. More in the sense of are these just hired swords or should we expect some character development for Strickland. I assume he won't go to waste, but I also can't imagine having time to develop a new character and mot...
