Re: Re: Random Thoughts

I tried to watch one of the Transformers movies today. My god it was awful.

Re: What brought you back?

My first issues were UXM #257, X-Factor #47, Classic X-Men #40, all in late 1989. I read mostly X-Men titles up until the end of Legion Quest in the spring of 1995. I graduated from high school that year, took a road trip that ended at a Grateful Dead concert, and decided that the girls in college w...

Re: Re: Random Thoughts

I think AoU is deserving of the hate it got. It wasted alot of potential that other movies had to overcome or lost entirely. Ant-Man was enjoyed but forgotten. I don’t understand what this means. What potential was wasted? How was it overcome in other movies, or lost entirely? Ultron got a lot of h...

Re: Random Thoughts

Age of Ultron is the most underrated MCU film. Not while we live in a universe that contains both Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp Cosigned. Two quippy, fun, tightly plotted, and thoroughly enjoyable feel-good heist movies. Also, Evangeline Lilly as the Wasp is the most competent choice for the new...

Re: Rachel's Codename Dilemma

Nah, if we're giving Jean credit for saving the universe with healing the M'Kraan, she's got to take the bulk of the blame for killing 5 billion brocaliens. The only way they could get past that on her revival in X-Factor was by claiming it was Not-Jean relieving her of that burden, but consequentl...

Re: Rachel's Codename Dilemma

Here’s the thing. The Phoenix character that looked and acted like Jean from the early CC run through DPS was a clone. But the clone was both a perfect physical clone and a perfect psychic clone. So even though the real Jean (who was in the cocoon) never restored the crystal or killed the D’bari, th...

Re: Re: Random Thoughts

I love how quickly we moved on from Aeon's ravings of a charismatic madman to talking about condiments. I enjoy a good mustard, wasabi or horseradish, but I much prefer a good chilli sauce. I have a bush covered in really hot birdseye chilli's and I want to find a recipe for some sort of chilli rel...

Re: Random Thoughts

Coleman’s mustard is like wasabi for white people food.

Or horseradish for gentile food.

It’s why god gave us sinuses.

I can’t imagine life without it.

Re: New Mutants film announced!

I try not to pay for television. There’s enough “free” TV with my Prime subscription to keep me satisfied. I “paid” for Dark Phoenix with the virtual coupon of one weeks free trial of HBO. I probably should have used it on something better, but I’m enough of a completist that I wanted to see DP.

I signed up for a free week of HBO just to watch Dark Phoenix.

In old school decks of cards one of the suits was sometimes swords. Is X (ten) of Swords a tarot reference?

Re: Emma Frost and Mystique pages

The slow retcon of the Hellfire Club into some kind of misguided Mutant Rights enterprise is one of the dumbest plot lines of the past 30 years. Emma, Shaw, and all the others were not in it for the welfare of mutants. They were in it for power and money. I know we’re trying to salvage Emma’s charac...

Re: A Look Back: X-Men (vol2) #1-54 and UXM #281-334

Every time I try to read this era—from AoA to Revolution—I get bored and give up. I’ve maybe read a handful of issues, but I’m not sure I’ve read a whole storyline.

With that said, I’m going to try reading #322 today, and we’ll see how it goes

I’m not sure what criterion you used to select songs for the music page, but you might mention her performance of Proud Mary in the outback. After all, it was “so raw it put Tina Turner to shame.”

Re: A Look Back: X-Men (vol2) #1-54 and UXM #281-334

To be clear, I liked the idea of strengthening the relationships and coordination between the teams. Given the plot developments leading up to it—the reunification of the X-Men and the resurrection of Xavier—it was sensible to bring them all back into more close coordination. I just didn’t care for ...

Re: A Look Back: X-Men (vol2) #1-54 and UXM #281-334

The first sparks of attraction were shown in X-Men #29, when Betsy accompanied Warren to the Hellfire Club, but UXM #319 is them being shown on an actual date for the first time and fully embracing their new relationship. At the the time I thought they made a great couple and I celebrated this part...

Re: The "X-Man" definition

It depends on the era. But the presence of the X gene is never sufficient to be an X-Man, and often it’s not necessary either. One must also be a part of the team. It used to be narrowly defined, but lately it’s much broader.

Re: Character status post-Endgame

Then Cap decides to let Hydra happen? He doesn't track down Bucky? It asks a lot of a character who defies fate at every angle to just let all these horrible things happen for the sake of preserving the timeline. Especially if his emergence into the past is somehow destined and doesn't disrupt ever...

Back on topic,

I just added the Spiderman characters. I’m assuming, because I can’t really recall, that all of his peers died and were resurrected, otherwise they’d all be five years older than him, right?

Re: Character status post-Endgame

So, Cap went back to the 40s, danced with her, and was like 'hey, marry somebody else and after you have your kids, let's get together'? That doesn't make any sense. Is the dancing scene definitively set in the 1940’s? Edit: just watched it, and there are a couple of forties model cars in the scene...

Re: Character status post-Endgame

Maybe Steve ended up being Peggy’s second husband, after the kids were grown up and moved out. Nothing says he went back to be with her in the 1940’s. In fact, age-wise that makes the most sense. He had to return one of the stones to 1970. He saw Peggy there. Assuming she was born in 1920, she would...

Well, it's worth looking at the evidence. In CM, human Nick says he would never be able eat a sandwich cut diagonally. In Age of Ultron, he does just that, at Clint's farmhouse: https://www.cinemablend.com/news/2472195/captain-marvel-directors-react-to-rumors-about-nick-fury-being-a-skrull (This ru...
