Re: The Best X-Factor Run

FWIW, I'm including the Madrox mini as part of David's PI run. It's really not separate.

Re: Runaways

I don't like how crazy they're making Gert in s.2. It's a ham-fisted take on anxiety and mental illness.

Also, I agree that tacking on a gang-related background to the black characters was uncool. Next they'll make the Minorus Yakuzas with ninja training.

Re: Jake Gyllenhall in talks for role in Spider-Man Homecoming sequel

I also never realized that "MJ" was never meant to be Mary Jane. Obviously, the name was different, but... that seems kind of dumb to me. Wait why do you say that? Yeah, I didn’t ever sense it was supposed to be a different character. I mean, sure she’s not a white redhead, but didn’t she use some ...

Re: Runaways

It had to do with those giant "gods" in the underground. They were called the Gibborim. I knew that. I just didn’t want to argue with the autocorrect on my phone. 🥴 In case y’all didn’t know, “gibborim” is a Hebrew word found in the Bible. It’s one of many varieties of spirits along with Sepharim a...

Re: Runaways

Just binged the first season. It's pretty good. Better than the CW shows. Not as good as the best Netflix shows. I felt that it was pretty faithful to the source material in the characters. Sure, Molly's back story is different, but she works well. A few things I can't remember from the comic: (1) M...

Re: The Best X-Factor Run

(1) David's PI team--a great all around comic. David’s talent for finding the interesting dimensions to D-list characters was really highlighted in this run. Who knew Madrox could be so interesting? The neo-noir stories at the beginning were fresh and interesting; a good change of pace from the same...

It might be save them for actual characters too, instead of being possible illusions/constructs.
This^^

Since they're probably illusions by Mysterio, why burn up Spidey's known rogues? Use these z-listers, and save Hydroman and Sandman for later films.

@znop,

Sure, it's easy to speculate a connection. But CC is on record saying that none was intended.

Re: Captain Britain #1 and Roma

You say there’s “no such thing as coincidences,” but CC has recycled names before. Most notoriously, “Maddie Pryor” was given to a girl in Avengers Annual #10 and reused not to much later for the character we all know. CC has explicitly stated they were never intended to be the same character, and ...

Re: Jake Gyllenhall in talks for role in Spider-Man Homecoming sequel

I guess there’s a team of four obscure Spiderman villains called the Elementals, and rumor is those are the characters in this film.

But again, I think they’re actually Mysterio’s illusions.

Re: Jake Gyllenhall in talks for role in Spider-Man Homecoming sequel

I doubt this is Ben Reilly. Doesn’t Endgame come out before this? Does anyone really think that after Endgame the heroes will not be resurrected?

So May knows Peter is Spider-Man? Well, that’s a very unique dynamic. Changes her character substantially.

Re: Jake Gyllenhall in talks for role in Spider-Man Homecoming sequel

Since Mysterio seems to be trying to stop Hydoman, I suspect it’s an illusion Mysterio is using to try to trick people into thinking he’s a hero.

Edit: oh, it’s Mysterio.

Re: Concept vs Execution

One of the things that makes a good power is not the power itself, but how the power manifests in the charcter’s personality. That’s why Cyclops is such a great character—his inability to control his power has caused him to become a control freak. Telepathy has lots of great dimensions; when you hav...

@Lavettye, I think your post is a little harsh. Nathanadler is just trying to spark conversations about X-Men esoterica. S/he may not be an author on par with William James, but there’s plenty of interesting stuff there. Like I said elsewhere, though, we should consolidate the dozens of threads into...

My mother’s name is Ann Barbara, and my mother-in-law’s name is Barbara Ann. Both were born the same year, and in the same geographical region. That’s culture for you.

Kitty and Kate Summers we’re both born from the same mind, and within a year or two of one another. (1978-79).

What geological and archaeological anomalies were Alex and Lorna researching in the Rio Diablo Mountains of Northern New Mexico in X-Men #97 and again in Uncanny X-Men #218 (when hunted by the Marauders and where the Brood starshark vessel crashes)? While the Rio Diablo Mountains were an extension ...
