Re: WandaVision, season 1.

Everything from Wanda's line "I'm a twin" to the end of episode was gold. Agree. I was pretty bored by the Brady Bunch pastiche. But when Olsen delivered that line, it was like a gut punch. And from there I was on the edge of my seat. So why did the neighbours know Geraldine / Monica didn't belong....

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

Theory: “Hydra Soak” represents Hydra’s attempt to brainwash Wanda like the Winter Soldier. It’s what’s going on right now.

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

Oh, another bit of trivia (from last week). Glamour and Illusion were neighbors of Wanda and Vision back during their miniseries in the 80s. They were a magical act that actually had powers and used them to rob banks. That’s cute. Suburban magician bank robbers. Sound like an early 80’s Marvel mini...

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

Thinking about SWORD being on screen is so wild...quality or enjoyment aside (let’s not fall into that rabbit hole), it’s amazing that such a short run (Astonishing X-Men by Whedon) would have such an enduring creation in it. Bendis wrote comics for years and wrote sooooo many titles, so it makes s...

Re: Update on... X-MEN ROSTER

Great update - I've only caught bits of this period ( barely read any of the Australian era other than Inferno ) and always felt the X-Men in Space line-up could've lasted a bit longer - it was a really unique mix of characters that didn't really get time to get going before the return of X-Factor ...

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

... SWORD, or at least Agent Woo,r are trying to get her out of it... That’s an assumption at this point. It seems likely, but I don’t think there’s sufficient on-screen evidence to conclude SWORD is trying to liberate Wanda. It assumes that’s Randall Park’s voice on the radio, which requires some ...

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

I really think this should have been one longer episode rather than broken up into two. I think it would feel less disjointed and better paced if they'd done it that way. I understand it was two distinct episodes of the show within a show, but they probably could have edited a little bit of the fir...

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

Just reading up on the Easter Eggs and it appears the 23rd August might relate to Avengers 238, an issue which interestingly looks at Vision coming back online after a period of inactivity (and an issue that happens to feature Monica as Cap Marvel...) I knew there had to be some significance. That ...

The nosy neighbor’s off-screen husband that we never meet is a long-running trope in American sitcoms. We may never meet him.

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

On the Agatha front, nope nothing from 616. I mean, I think she tends to be a manipulative character with her own motives but I'm more thinking 'How would the MCU adapt this character' and it's just what I came up with. FWIW, Hahn’s character has a broach/pin she’s wearing in every scene that looks...

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

Okay, so theory: I'm with NuD. Agnes = Agatha Hawkness, She's working for Hydra, who have kidnapped Wanda and her using her powers to create this world...to probably get Wanda to remake the world in Hydra's image. I mean, I'm literally spitballing. Not sure how SWORD fits into this, but they do(obv...

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

I’ve seen a clip of Wanda talking directly to the camera, so I THINK we’re going to see a take on Modern Family for the 00’s/10’s episode. 70’s I’m guessing Brady Bunch 80’s kind of Full House/Roseanne kind of vibes? 90’s I’m guessing Friends 00’s/10’s anything like Modern Family/Parks and Rec/The ...

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

I have a foggy memory of the WCA story by Byrne retconning the Torch into Vision’s backstory, and then out again. Or the reverse. Or something. It was in the same run as Vision’s white phase, and the Master Pandemonium story. I’m still baffled how Disassembled was written 15+ years after Wanda’s kid...

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

Is 616 Vision still made from the spare parts of the WW2 Human Torch, or was that retconned? Think we’ll see any fan service from Vision’s 616 back story, or is this really going to be all Wanda?

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

So, I think there’s a lot of 616 stuff in here I don’t recognize. I know Agnes is Agatha Harkness. Who’s Dottie? What’s the significance of the August 23 date in real life? Is that from 616, or is it the date AoU was released (Wanda met Vision?) Do we recognize the symbol on the notebook, helicopter...

Re: WandaVision, season 1.

Is this a multi-season show or a one-off event? Depends on how much money it makes. I’m not sure why Friday irks me. Perhaps because for the past two weeks I’ve been looking forward to watching it tomorrow. But I feel like Thursday is the night they air the good stuff, and Friday gets shows that ar...

Re: Wonder Woman 1984

There are a lot of baffling choices in this movie and the scarcity of 80s music if definitely one of them. Even if they somehow failed to consider it, one would think that after the "Blue Monday" trailer had such a positive reaction they would made the decision to incorporate it somewhere. In fact,...

Continuity/character fixes

Over in the comments section at the House to Astonish blog, in a discussion about Wolverine, someone posed the question, Has a good story ever resulted, or a character ever been improved, by writers trying to “fix” timeline discrepancies in stories published from an earlier era? My first reaction wa...

So I’m starting this re-read too. I’m at issue #65 and I have to say that giving Bendis Alex Maleev was f***ing brilliant. His art is so damn beautiful. The fact that we even have to speculate about keycards and jet fuel is evidence of bad writing. These are not the conversations engendered by a good movie.

Ok, so in sum: —Nobody’s quite sure, but it was probably A&S in Virginia, which didn’t exist in ‘84 —Diana has keycard access even though she has no business being there —Apparently the jets are not locked —Apparently you don’t need a key or code to start them —Apparently they’re fully fueled and ma...

Re: Wonder Woman 1984

I agree with most of this, didn't care for the movie, but I'm pretty sure the place with all the planes/jets was supposed to be the Air and Space Museum, since she works for the Smithsonian. Even better. A researcher at the Natural History museum has a keycard that not only lets her waltz into the ...
