Re: Roxxon’s Sordid History

Not much to say. RoXXon doesn't have a "story" per se -- they're a generically evil corporation in the modern world. There's no "face" of RoXXon like MODOK and AIM or Strucker and Hydra. There have been a number of CEOs or vice presidents over the years, but if they're outted as criminal or corrupt,...

Re: Hydra History Lesson

After Siege, SHIELD was in a weird sort of limbo for a few years. At the end of Secret Warriors, Nick Fury basically declared Quake his "heir" and his old buddy Senator "Reb" Ralston got funding for SHIELD re-enacted in Congress, with Daisy technically at the head of this burgeoning new organization...

Re: Hydra History Lesson

After Baron Strucker died in Strange Tales #158, Hydra splintered beyond the point of effectiveness. You had Viper as Madame Hydra during this time (Captain America #110-113) and a bunch of posers, but not much else. Hydra even degenerated from international terrorists and nihilists down to being a ...

Nothing detailed. He was a normal human being. As his elderly body died, he was preserved as a cyborg. That cyborg body had superhuman strength, speed, endurance, and durability, but no other unique features of note.

Re: Monolith's Power Descriptions

She is genetically the daughter of Elena of the Utopian Parallel and Amalia of Planet Fuertona, her mothers. Her conception, coming to term, and birth were not presented as anything artificial or unusual in the life of people from the Utopian Parallel. In that reality, under the guardianship of the ...

Re: Monolith's Power Descriptions

She was conceived and carried to term on the Utopian Parallel universe by her natural mothers, one of whom was a native of the Parallel, the other was an extra-dimensional immigrant.

Corvus and Black Dwarf seem to be literal brothers, per the Black Order limited series.

Re: Wolverine's superhuman strength and agility

Well, you're correct in that Wolverine doesn't actually have Superhuman Strength. He only has Enhanced Strength. Superhuman - above the limits that the fittest human being could ever conceivably reach Peak Human - THE limits that the fittest human being could ever conceivably reach Enhanced - strong...

Re: Alien Races - the KREE

It wasn't SO much of a retcon; the Kree were introduced in 1967, and the Pink/Blue Kree racial strife was explicit by 1969. I'm not sure what Ronan looked like in his first appearance -- what copies I've seen of FF #65 suggest he was colored pink in that appearance. However, the Kree next appeared i...

Re: NextGen #2

@Anna: The stakes don't have to be high, but they have to be relevant. That's one of the problems with the Age of X-Man X-Men really being the Earth-616 X-Men (again, so we presume). Small stakes...will Nightcrawler realize it's okay to love? Will Iceman and Jubilee come to understand being fascist ...

Re: NextGen #2

I fully agree that the ideas are not boring, on their own. And if the "Age of X-Man" reality had been presented to us as, say, one of the realms of Battleworld, I could definitely get behind the plot more. If it was its own thing. It's similar to the scenario where Glob, Armor, Pixie and Rockslide w...

Re: NextGen #2

The problem with Age of X-Man is that the stakes aren't clear, and are therefore not engaging. Age of Apocalypse and House of M, from the beginning, ran the theme of "The world is wrong and we need to restore it to normal!" Age of X played like a mystery, with Rogue and Gambit slowly discovering the...

Re: Monolith's Power Descriptions

Shade was the recipient of an incantation which linked him to the astral plane. The burn mark on his neck was a sigil which allowed him to physically travel into the astral plane and return to Earth. On Earth, he could seemingly exchange between a physical and astral state at will. In his astral sta...

Re: Wasp's antennae?

Once the Pyms' powers became natural circa Avengers #28 (and they no longer needed to expose themselves to new Pym Particles each size-change), Jan's antenna stopped manifesting. She occasionally used replacement tech, like a cybernetic collar from Avengers #167. In West Coast Avengers #33-34, Hank ...

Dean,

We did decide to keep Lucifer on the MightyA page, as an occasional villain of Avengers characters. Check the Avengers Character Entry Order thread in Muir Island for the discussion, and some of the Contributor threads.

That was still Ronin, or rather, a prototype design for Ronin.

The design was reused during Uncanny X-Men (3rd series) for Dark Beast's containment suit.

Just based on the facts at hand and the working knowledge we had of Jamie's powers, which admittedly has changed since his return. The story as it unfolded had Jamie generate a dupe to give mouth-to-mouth resuscitation to a Legacy infected Mutate in Genosha. He then immediately re-absorbed the dupe....

To begin, it was later established that Namor did not swim to Antarctica and back in FF #4, but to a nearby Atlantean outpost in the North Atlantic, which he found devastated. That outpost, indeed, could have been devastated by radiation, without contradicting the later discovery of Destiny's attack...

Yeah, Lobdell and Bachalo are on record saying they originally intended for there to be no "real" Monet, just the twins posing as her. Consequently, Penance was NOT the original Monet -- she would have been an entirely different girl.

Inhumans are just plastic surgery addicts: Change my mind

Have you ever met somebody so stupid that they think their kids will be born blond because they bleach their hair? With their recent period of hyper-prominence in Marvel Comics coming to an end, I wanted to take this time to bring up the thing that has always annoyed me the most about the Inhumans. ...
