Re: Giant Size X-Men: Fantomex #1

I didn't read it as having any weird time shenanigans... I think Fantomex's first incursion (with the Howling Commandos) is WW2 (obviously), and then each incursion after that is just a decade or so later. I wouldn't take Fantomex's description of the Avengers too literally, I think he's just trying...

Re: Giant Size X-Men: Fantomex #1

The Ultimaton and Fantomex are both clones...and I think Fantomex is the discarded one. He grew up outside the world, that’s why he aged differently. Ahh ok. So the other clone that got kept isn't really important or connected anyhow, just showing that Fantomex was discarded... still weird though s...

Re: Giant Size X-Men: Fantomex #1

Okay, so the last three pages picks up the plotline of Storm's problem from the first Giant Size, and they're gonna go into the World to cure it. Okay. The point of the rest is...? That Ultimaton was a discarded AIM clone baby that Fantomex visited every decade or so in the World? Can't really see w...

Re: Empyre: X-Men #2

Maybe my perception of Magik is off, but I really felt a lot her dialogue, at least early on, was stuff she'd never say. "I thought these ladies were so @#@$in' rad when they showed up and Cuisinarted that alien... but they obviously suck so hard. " I could see someone like Boom Boom or Jubilee sayi...

Re: X-Men #10

But this no longer is about X-Men #10 now.... Well, going from what little panel time Petra and Sway got, it's hard to judge, but their behaviour seems somewhat odd... so it wouldn't surprise me if they were damaged goods and not fully accurate ressurections/copies of themselves. Only time will tel...

Re: Cable #2

It's funny, my first reaction on seeing Omerta was "sweet, I remember that guy!" then realizing I have no reason to like or care about the character at all except for nostalgia because he happened to be in the comics at the time I started collecting. This was a decent enough issue I suppose, but I d...

Re: X-Men #10

One thing I liked about this was the use of the crossover. Let the main Empyre stuff stay in its own title (and associated X-Men: Empyre book) and just use it as a backdrop to continue a plotline here, that being Vulcan's circumstances. The story would've worked equally well with any random invading...

Re: X-Factor #1

Humans can come to Krakoa if they are invited and accompanied by a mutant as they cross a gate, and Krakoa doesn't object. Brian Braddock has also been to the island, so was Melody Guthrie before she underwent the Crucible. Ah that's right, I do remember that language now. Though I don't remember B...

Re: X-Factor #1

Overall I liked this a good amount. Refreshing too to have the main mystery (Aurora's death) wrapped in one issue, as well as getting the team basically set up, instead of unnecessarily stretching it out over an entire arc. Good use of everyone's powers. I do hope the team eventually gets a bit more...

Re: New Mutants film announced!

I can understand Sunspot's actor choice since he's frequently appeared quite light-skinned in the comics. Isn't his mom white? Reyes though, she's always been shown as dark-skinned, and I honestly tend to forget that she's Puerto Rican (which appears to have been changed to Brazilian for the movie)....

Re: Empyre: X-Men #1

Looking at that map of Africa, I'm curious, what are the other five made-up countries surrounding Wakanda? Also, the plant people really say "Ru' tuh-baga"? The first part, once it dawned that it was not to be taken seriously, was pretty amusing. I still find Hickman's characterization to be a bit o...

Spoilers for advanced solicits
Spoiler: show
So the Eight of Cups is the "classified" character whose "story is sure to shock X-Men fans everywhere" (X of Swords Stasis #1 solicit). So, maybe it is Moira as Insipid suggested.

Re: October Solicits

I have to be honest, I'm less excited about this crossover than I thought I would be. Maybe it's the forced hiatus. Maybe it's the feeling that with so many titles and writers involved it's unlikely to be a very focused story. Maybe it's because I still have no clue what this is even about other th...

Re: FCBD X-Men #1

The woman in Eight of Cups looks a bit too dark-skinned to be Moira to me, but I think you're onto something - the Four Horsemen in Four of Wands match up very well with the ones in the Moira/Apocalypse timeline in House of X #2 (one guy with a pharaoh helmet, one with a flame head, one with the Ha...

Re: Giant Sized X-Men: Magneto

Yeah, pretty light, but it didn't leave me feeling ripped off like some stuff has. My main complaint is that the character interactions didn't quite feel right. I'm a fan of all three main characters here, but... aren't Magneto and Emma still pretty icy towards each other? Maybe I'm forgetting somet...

Re: FCBD X-Men #1

Grabbed one at my LCS. Not much to it, basically a small setup story for X of Swords, the last half is a preview story for the Dark Ages event that involves Iron Man flying into an airplane and getting his leg cut off  Anyways, synopsis of the X-Men portion: Some weird-looking dudes (fish lady...

Re: X-Force #10

Not really digging this issue. As far as broad strokes go, it just felt undercooked, with a lot of decompression (lots of 4 panel pages with only one or two bubbles) and an underwhelming story that basically boils down to "they fight a bunch of plant people." And we once again are presented with lot...

Re: Marauders #10

I'm pretty sure it was stated in an interview that the gates just don't react well to her phasing powers. That would be such an incredibly lame and disappointing resolution to the Kitty mystery, IMO. If they wanted to take that route (just having it as a reason for Kate to feel left out and alone?)...

Re: Excalibur #10

Really didn't like this issue, story-wise. Very choppy and difficult to read - the reality-splitting stuff isn't really explained until the last couple pages, but it's not like it's some mystery to be unraveled, it literally just reads like any other story until the mention of the reality splitting ...

Your first line is a spoiler for someone who steers away from previews and solicits, so you'd better hide it with spoiler tags. I had the same thought about responding, but chose not to as you can't not share that particular info without spioiling it. Yeah you're right, I thought about it and chose...

Re: Marauders #10

Spoilers for previews/solicits I believe next issue is the funeral issue. I still think she comes back relatively soon (as in, within this plot line, not to actually kill her off knowing she'll come back eventually like Wolverine or Cyclops). I think the mystery of everything is just too large and d...

Re: Marauders #10

Decent issue. I agree with BC that I always like seeing the X-Men be competent, which is something that's largely been delivered in spades on this title (compare to X-Force, which seems to whiplash between outstanding competence and utter stupidity). Took me awhile to recognize Bishop, the haircut m...

Re: Marvel moves into digital only issues

I wouldn't say that it's a test ballon for digital, as there won't be any valid data to compare the sale figures with. Now if they published the issues in paper and digitally at the same time, they could check which version is better received. This also is no real test if digitally is received at a...
