What brought you back?

Sorry if this has a thread already, but I'm not seeing one... I gather it's common for people to quit reading comics and return at later points. I have done so a few times and thought I'd ask what comics, etc. brought you back into the fold? What drove you away in the first place? The first time I s...

Re: X-Men #10

I didn’t mean it as an insult either...just that it’s funny how they can seem to come out when you might not expect. Especially when it’s whole threads about some pretty wild things lol...you can get under the false impression that there’s a social consensus on something you know? Like sex, sexuali...

Re: X-Men #10

I think Kitty definitely seems like a case of drinking to deal with issues. Boom Boom seems to be something similar considering people she considers her friend have left her behind. Yeah, I see them providing those rationalizations. It just seems like a lot at once since Dawn of X began. Maybe that...

Re: X-Men #10

I’ll take the word of the actual text (until it contradicts itself) versus a promotional text...especially with all these delays and changes of plans. That’s what I was thinking too. Also, count me among those who are not fans of all these depictions of excessive drinking across the X-titles. As so...

Re: X-Men #10

It wasn’t hinted that the original Vulcan was alive...that was a guess people made. Instead, as we see those are the memories of this (the real) Vulcan. These memories were altered (as well as his personality) by those green alien folks. This is what I came away thinking too, but that contradicts w...

I think I liked this? Such overt comedy is not usually my cup of tea but it was a fun read and so so queer. I'm here for that. Great cast too. I appreciate Lorna's apparent direction.

I spent the entirety of his X-Men run waiting for him to leave or die so we can get back to the actual Logan who was supposed to be dead.
Same! What a dreadful period in X-history.

Re: Empyre: X-Men #1

I enjoyed this and was excited to read something by Hickman for the first time in months (for better and worse). I liked this particular cast of characters. An X-CORP series was teased but it sounds as though it, along with CHILDREN OF THE ATOM, might not see the light of day after all. Warren and M...

Re: October Solicits

The cover to X OF SWORDS: STASIS #1 (gorgeous!) depicts our new foes who hail from Arrako and we even get their names. A few thoughts: 1. There is no Famine or Pestilence. 2. While I’m usually dubious about revelations guaranteed to “shock,” I’m genuinely excited to learn the identity of this myster...

Nighthawk (2016)

I just reread this tragically short-lived series and man, is it even more relevant now than it was 4 years ago. I'm still surprised Marvel had the balls to publish this series and I get that it might not be everyone's cup of tea (the violence is pretty graphic). But wow. I loved this story. It doesn...

Re: New Mutants #10

I agree that they felt more in character in this issue than they did under Hickman. I thought the art was fantastic and I'm really enjoying the large ensemble of characters. New Mutants vol. 1 had a large cast too, but characters like Magma and Karma didn't get much time in the spotlight. I feel lik...

Rogue vs Ms Marvel

Where has Rogue’s first fight with Ms Marvel been portrayed in a comic? I’m referring to the depiction of her stealing Ms Marvel’s powers. When I was younger, I assumed it took place in Avengers Annual #10. I either couldn’t afford or couldn’t find that back issue as a kid in the 1990s. I’m not sure...

unsure I like the unresolved stuff being left but think they will be picked up afterwards I’m not sure I understand this mindset. Do you expect everything to be resolved within the issue it’s first presented, or very soon after? I’m confident Hickman will get around to explaining everything. Clarem...

At the beginning of the thread me and a few others were throwing out our ideas on Vulcan...I don’t think me, Username, Magnus or token were trying to unravel the mysteries of everything just really confounded or intrigued by Vulcan. But now it feels like by us having that conversation we’re idk not...

Second option: deliberate sabotage by someone(s) (the "trirumvirate dont want her on the island, because her powers can discover Moira" theory) I don't think they've been trying to prevent Kate from being on Krakoa. Emma gave her a giant boat to get to and from the island, I think Xavier and Magnet...

Re: The Dawn of X Direction...

Brisson's issues feel like they're aimed at someone much younger than myself. I'm curious to what makes you think this because I feel the opposite. Hickman's issues have an irreverence that make me think he is targeting a young adult audience, with Wolfsbane going around licking things, Magik askin...

Marauders: I didn't know what to expect from this book and was not a big fan of the first few issues, but it's grown on me a lot. This feels the most like a pre-DoX series, which is likely due to the characterization being on point as well as the fact that a lot of this series takes place off of Kra...

Wolverine and the X-Men. X-Men Blue. X-Men Gold. X-Men Red. Amazing X-Men. All-New X-Men. New Mutants. Manifest Destiny. X-Factor. Nope. No superheroics there. Is saving the Earth from Galactus superheroics or is it survival? What about an invasion by Dormammu? Or subjugation by Hydra? Or the Kree?...

Technically, the print quality + paper stocks were such a leap forward from just a few years earlier. Everything felt super sharp. I loved this! I think it was referred to as "deluxe" or something like that? Whatever it was, it didn't last long. I'm pretty sure its demise coincided with the bankrup...

Re: Mid '90s Bright Spots

It’s a little tough to follow the author’s reasoning. I’m not sure if he’s trying to explain how the Onslaught plot developed based on what happened behind the scenes, or if he’s trying to use the Onslought plot as a metaphor for how Marvel was operating. I think it's the former. The Onslaught "plo...
