Re: X-Men Dark Phoenix

I'm shocked but I actually really liked it? Spoiler tags just in case. Are critics so used to epic MCU films that character driven and focused movie like this feels mundane to them. The only part that felt the movie dragging was the action scenes, particularly the train sequence at the end. Every ti...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #19

I enjoyed this issue for what it was. Emma seems very much back on track. As a big fan of the Morrison era, I hate seeing Wolverine and Emma's friendship deteriorate to a simple "I hate you." I'm assuming he was informed of her IvX shenanigans and I won't say it's out of character for Logan to be an...

Re: Game of Thrones

Yeah, I know we've said for years that Dany wouldn't end up on the throne but I kinda wish she did. Predictable, yes but it would've been immensely more satisfying to me. When Jon killed her, it didn't feel like justice, it just felt wasteful. Yes, she destroyed the city but it was clear that she wa...

Re: Uncanny X-men #18

It's definitely an exciting run and I love some of what Rosenberg is doing but I don't think the deaths are needed to raise to the stakes. Each one has had less impact than the last. I mean Chamber, a character who has been around for almost 30 years, just died and the fanbase is just like "Meh." Th...

Re: Uncanny X-men #18

So within eight issues, we've lost Blindfold, Guido, Rahne, and now Chamber. And for what? Sure things are grim but the situations don't seem especially dangerous. It was just a basic Marauders fight. I'm just not sure where this is all going. We get it, life sucks for the X-Men, now what?

Re: Game of Thrones

I'm fine with the turn Dany's story took but I can never forgive D&D for giving us shortened final seasons when there was clearly a lot of character development needed to get us there. Her dark turn feels too abrupt and needed more time to breathe. Others keep citing various ruthless actions of her ...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #17

Again, nothing wrong with disagreeing. I think it’s phrasing your disagreements as fact and correcting people that get under my and other poster’s skin. Saying things like “Rahne wouldn’t have done that” or Dani wouldn’t have done this” has nothing to do with some of the critiques on the story peopl...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #17

I just don't understand that point. Rosenberg is clearly trying to empathize, to educate, and enlighten. It may have been a clumsy attempt, but it was an attempt nonetheless, and it was more nuanced than many attempts I've seen at similar subjects. Can someone help me see what I am missing here? Th...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #17

So, looking back over this thread, BC quoted two people once a piece and neither were you, QaD. And one of them was because he was directly answering a question. I wasn't quoted(perhaps because my comment was still the latest one) but my opinion was still directly responded to and dismissed as bein...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #17

Agree to disagree, but some folks are taking disagreement as a personal attack, which is intellectually dishonest. Not everybody is gonna see it the way you do, and it's FINE to debate. That's literally the point of conversations like this. Let's not tone-police here. I don't think it's fair to exp...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #17

We got a eulogy from Dani though didn’t we? That’s her reaction...Logan taking Dani to go kill wouldn’t have true to Dani’s character. He took Kwannon cause she was telepath and the most disengaged with Rahne and a killer. You could also say that it wouldn't be true to Dani's character not to have ...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #17

While I wouldn’t call it sloppy, it can definitely be called lazy writing. Killing off a decades old beloved character in such a way so that Scott and Logan can fight again? Terrible. We didn’t even get a proper reaction from Dani. Why wouldn’t she be the one trying to tag along with Logan for reven...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #17

The writing and dialogue in this title is great. Best writing in a flagship X-Title in a long time but Wolfsbane going out like that is simply depressing and disrespectful to fans of the character. She’s not some minor X-Men character, she’s an original new mutant and she deserves much better than b...

Re: Spotlight On... JULIA CARPENTER

I’m not really questioning Jessica Drew’s popularity or usage, I’m just curious why Shooter felt the need to create a new Spider-Woman when the other one was still around. Now we have multiple Hawkeyes and have had a few different Captain Americas and such but those are all the passing of a mantle s...

Re: Avengers 4

Do we really need to do spoil tags in the official topics? I don’t see Black Widow being dead anymore than I see Gamora being dead. At the end, Hawkeye is talking to Scarlet Witch about how he hopes Nat knows they won and Wanda replies “She does, they both do.” Could this be implying Wanda can commu...

Re: Avengers 4

This had a ton to live up to and it truly knocked it out of the park. So satisfying, so emotional, just a perfect way to end out this part of the franchise. Minor gripes and comments below. The only complaint I have was Captain Marvel. Just seemed shoehorned in and didn't really affect the plot in a...

Re: Spotlight On... JULIA CARPENTER

Without going too topic and taking away from the wonderful spotlight on the second Spider-Woman... I do wonder if had to do with Shooter not liking Jessica Drew's original origin. It was retconned but maybe he never quite got past it.

Re: Spotlight On... JULIA CARPENTER

Great read!

I was always curious about the creation of Julia. Jessica Drew was already established as Spider-Woman and had a popular solo run, why create an all-new Spider-Woman less than a decade after the original’s debut?

Re: Uncanny X-men #16

Fandom or not, it’s still a wiki which means it’s fan contributed. Our spotlight on Moonstar also lists her animal rapport powers as part of her mutant power set so I’m aware that it’s the general consensus. I’m asking if it’s ever been directly addressed in an actual issue.

Re: Uncanny X-men #16

Well if Wikipedia says it...

But anyway, Claremont loved playing up the mysticism in his Native American characters. Moonstar's grandpa was a shaman... I don't think it's out of left field to think her animal rapport skills aren't related to her being a mutant.

How is Dani able to maintain her empathic rapport with Rahne if she lost her powers? Has it been confirmed that her powers came back?
Was it ever stated that Dani’s rapport with animals was part of her mutant power set and not rooted in her Cheyenne heritage?

I think it's cool that Nightcrawler is playable but I'm really hoping for Cyclops. His powers are just great for games like this. Nightcrawler on the other hand... I can't recall it ever feeling quite satisfying to play as in any of his video game appearances.

Re: Uncanny X-men #16

This is getting a bit too grim for me. I'm really hoping Rahne isn't dead...

While I'm fine with Juggernaut joining the X-Men, his reasoning sounded a bit off to me. Hoping to get into his head more in future issues.
