Re: The Best X-Factor Run

Difficult to choose, though David's run is what got me reading X-Factor, so going to mostly his runs. 5. David: “The Corporate Team”- X-Factor vol.4 #1-12 (hard to pick between this and "legacy" but while not his best work, it was doing some different things which I liked) 4. David: “The Solo”- X-Fa...

Re: Rebellion and British Comics

Prolific British comic artist Ron Smith (94) has died. Probably most known for Judge Dredd, but he had long career, interesting memorium piece here: ,https://downthetubes.net/?p=103667

Re: The Best Run...UXN’s Definitive Best X-Runs!

Ok I'll try this, although X-Force type books are probably my least favourite and haven't read all of original run so hard to do 10 but here we go: 10. Liefeld and Nicieza: The Beginning- X-Force vol.1 #1-12 9. Nicieza: "X-Force Refined"- X-Force vol.1 #13-43 8. Moore: "On the Road"- X-Force vol.1 #...

Those were the two I was thinking of. I guess I assumed the second one didn't survive the explosion. What makes you think she'll be on the team?
Then you mustn't have watched all 13 episodes? She is in the last few episodes, don't want to spoil anything, but her backstory is explained too.

Re: Random Thoughts

Magik- I love the differences between people we have so many movies the same on the top 10 BUT Crazy Rich Asians was on my and my girlfriends 'bad movie' list...pretty much the only one we both disliked. It had some good moments, maybe it needs another look Cable: I enjoyed A Quiet Place (and I lov...

Re: Random Thoughts

I really don't see as much films as I used to, I am hoping to catch Into the Spiderverse before it goes from cinemas, but top 10 of what I have seen (in no particular order) Bad Times at the El Royale Black Panther BlackkKlansman Antman and Wasp Incredibles 2 Bohemian Rhapsody Solo Infinity Wars Jul...

Re: Runaways

I've now finished the season, and I liked it better than season 1. Rather than straight adaptation they are fitting things in with the world they've built which isn't filled with mutants and superheroes (that we know of, though with a reference to Wakanda maybe there will be more tie in to MCU), but...

Re: The Judas Contract

The Judas Contract was one of the first teen titans stories I read (I only had a couple of other sporadic issues). I do think like Monolith said, it's like Uncanny X-Men that you are thrust into middle of long epic and you just have to go with it. I thought even if you weren't familiar with the back...

Re: Rebellion and British Comics

This thread has reminded me how much I liked Nikolai Dante and should re-read it! In the meantime, some christmas goodies I got, were two more Scream! books: The Thirteenth Floor Vol. 1 - a computer runs a tower block and to protect his tenants, he sends any nasty people to a holographic 13th floor,...

Re: Rebellion and British Comics

Definitely will try and give Misty vol.1 a read - never read this first time round - pretty horror orientated, if my memory of the write-up in Comic Heroes serves me well. Would readers have to be a fan of 'girl's comics' to enjoy, or would you say it's fairly accessible regardless? Yes it's very m...

Rebellion and British Comics

From Spectral Knight's suggestion in the "100 comics to read" thread, this is a thread for British comics recommendations. I would say Rebellion are the biggest name over here, with 2000AD and Judge Dredd and a few years ago the bought I huge backlog of defunct company IPC/Fleetway and are currently...

I keep wanting to pick up Charley's War. Mills should be far more appreciated than what he is.
I've only got the first volume so far, but definitely worth checking out. Really enjoying the Rebellion Treasury line, highlighting some creators that wouldn't be known well otherwise.

Just realised there's no 100 Bullets on the list

98) 100 Bullets: The Counterfifth Detective (though really whole series worth a read)

Re: 100 Comic Stories to Read Before You Die

I could do a whole list of more obscure British comics like Charley's War, The Sentinels, Nikolai Dante, Kingdom...
But picking one, I'll go for an excellent dracula story

96) The Dracula File

Crazy Ex Girlfriend might put some people off because of the musical aspects, but it's freaking hilarious. And Rebecca is a terrific anti-hero. Plus, it has some amazing character development. And don't let the music put you off. The music is hilarious too I love crazy ex, I think title may have pu...

Re: 'Hidden gems'

Maybe Dirk is more niche then I thought. I do like some Douglas Adams.

Show with a more straightforward narrative that I liked is lovesick about guy who is trying to find " the one" and has to contact all his ex lovers when he gets std.

Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency I was super disappointed it was cancelled after 2 seasons, I think if it was on a bigger channel then BBC America, it could have lasted longer. It's hard show to describe as it's very random but also has a lot of heart. Basically Dirk Gently solves cases becau...

One of my favourite covers is UXM50, the first use of the 3D X-Men logo. I like the green colouring, Polaris taking centre with x-men cowering below, space is used without it being crowded.

Last episode was the weakest but I've been enjoying this run so far, Graham is my favourite companion, but I look forward to see Yas getting some focus next week. As for the 13th's hook, I'm not sure yet but I'm enjoying her, she's enthusiastic, bright, seems more up from with her "new best friends"...
