Re: Buffy the Vampire Slayer Reboot?

I'm most concerned about the supporting characters than about the recast of Buffy. Don't get me wrong, SMG was phenomenal but part of the show's appeal was how well the supporting cast played off of each other. I don't think they should try to recast Willow, Xander, Giles et al, it'd be less cringey...

In the comics I believe he's still allowed to call himself Captain Marvel, his comic just can't be TITLED Captain Marvel.
Whilst the character can be called Captain Marvel is it not the case that he's officially Shazam in the comics now?

Re: Random Thoughts

I mean to be fair Cernovich doesn't work for Disney so his character, or lack of, doesn't mean a thing. What is ridiculous is that the studio has given into mob rule whilst legitimate paedophiles and alleged sex offenders have been on their pay role. I have seen some conspiracy speak that Gunn was a...

Re: Random Thoughts

Wow. Sure some of those posts are offensive and in (very, very) bad taste. They are also so fundamentally ridiculous that they are obviously satirical. While they're going to bring the studio into disrepute Gunn (as far as I can tell from the timings) posted the offensive comments before he landed t...

Oooh, love the idea of Loans and Transfers...maybe because it appears to my inner demon.

I presume you can loan another person's free agent pick or a transferred character?

You can always stick an adjective in front of the team name if we are running short.

Ultimate X-Men Herringbone
Astonishing X-Men Grey

There's an almost infinite number of books that way.

Re: X-Men Draft: Editorial Edition

You know, I think my favourite thing about this draft is the capacity for each player to potentially get given a title/premise that they wouldn’t normally read and therefore have to think about what WOULD make them read that kind of title. Ugh. I’m already anxious. This. I know one book I really wa...

Re: Can the X-Men regain their 90's popularity?

Wolverine and the X-Men was alright. Was it brilliant? No, but it had some good episodes. Shame it never got renewed though. I thought Avengers : Earth's Mightiest Heroes was a decent show once it got past the origin episodes. I thought what was great about it was it's use of the complete Avengers m...

Re: Can the X-Men regain their 90's popularity?

Going back to the 90s, X-Men: TAS solved the conundrum of a split roster by picking the 'best' characters from the books at the time, even though for much of the early run there was the Blue / Gold split. So others cameo'd, but either book still had plenty of stars that you'd recognise from the TV s...

Sure, there's no incentive beyond that EU signed the Good Friday agreement and Britain is currently a massive trading partner to the other 27. re: the Irish situation, Britain could well say we'll open our borders to Ireland as per the terms of the CTA that was in place prior to both ROI and UK join...

Re: Random Thoughts

I know there was plenty of xenophobic / racism in the arguments for leave. The benefits or negatives of free movement is an important topic that should have been considered regardless of which way anyone voted but the way it was discussed was pretty shambolic. At no point should anyone have made the...

I think Belgium scare me more than France do. They've got both resiliency and skill. Saying that... Croatia first. My nerves will be shot to pieces on Wednesday. To even get to the final with the squad we've taken would be an achievement worth celebrating. It's certainly not the 'best' England team ...

Re: Can the X-Men regain their 90's popularity?

Basically what I'm getting out of this thread is the X-Men need a new, good cartoon show. And I'm all for that. Maybe if Disney buys them, we will see one on Disney XD like the Avengers and GotG. I think it's more than a new animated show. Not only should it be good but it needs to reflect the comi...

Cut it close this year though ;-) not a vintage Samba Boys performance by any measure so far. Oh dear England. Second half against Belgium we were back to our pedestrian, loose ball best. Re: Can the X-Men regain their 90's popularity?

I think Cable's point of the comics market changes is a pretty valid point re: the distribution of comics. While I'm not a massive fan of 'arc' story-telling of essential 2-3 issue length stories being expanded out for consumption by the TPB market, it does change the way the market consumes a comic...

Re: Can the X-Men regain their 90's popularity?

Agree, certainly wasn't talking about comics - I was talking from a media franchise perspective. From a comics perspective it influenced me. Not the sales chart. Lol. My gut feel is that the latter X-films (main franchise only, rather than Deadpool / Logan) didn't really relate to the then-current X...
