Re: Disney + Rewatch: X-Men: TAS

I finally finished my XM:TAS rewatch over the weekend. Season 5 is majorly "off"... it feels so disjointed. Even the ending feels a bit rushed. I think in retrospect S1 and 2 are leaps ahead of the latter seasons. I enjoyed S3 for giving us a Jean after the anonymity of S1/2 but other than being kid...

Re: Random Thoughts

8GB and you want to be running Photoshop? I think you probably want to be looking for a bit more - 16GB will probably do you a bit better though it'll depend also on the type of RAM too. I think DDR4 is the standard now. I would say go heavy on the RAM myself! Of course Photoshop perfornance also de...

Re: Random Thoughts

I've got Mary Berry approved GBBO branded cookware that is labelled with every measurement known to man, so such ambiguities shouldn't be an issue. Unfortunately we've not bothered taking them out the packaging since we received them as a Christmas present about four years ago...which probably says ...

Re: Random Thoughts

A post from RingOtaku earlier this week has prompted me to revisit the original radio version of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It feels like a step into an antique world where people used to listen to the radio for sci-fi orientated comedy. Still less than two minutes in and already pissing myse...

Re: Krakoa Draft

Funny, how you remember things. X-Men 2.0 felt much lighter than X-Men Editorial in terms of player counts, I would never have guessed they had the same number of players. The latter felt like an EPIC draft - in a good way. It's still probably my favourite draft (as a player) to play so far. Though ...

Re: Questions on Loki/Thor

Mono - you are an absolute star! :) I knew there's been all sorts of oddities re: OHOTMU and canon, but that's a perfect answer. Given the Golden Age debuts don't necessarily contradict the mentioned Silver Age and later appearances of these characters (yet...they might turn out to be Space Phantoms...

Re: Questions on Loki/Thor

So should I use Young Allies #16 or Journey into Mystery Annual #1 as Herc's canon debut? If I was making a hypothetical list of Avengers by their canonical debuts, that is... Reading connected articles on the Marvel Fandom site it appears part of Young Allies were deemed fictional within the MU but...

Re: Questions on Loki/Thor

Sorry, another similar follow-up - is the Hercules who appears in Young Allies the same Hercules as mainstream Hercules? I don't know if it's referenced as such anywhere in an OHOTMU issue?

Thanks Mono as ever!

I'll assume that thanks to the splendours of Asgardian nonsense that the answer to #2 is a "Yes" for my purposes :)

Questions on Loki/Thor

Two (well, three if you count the follow-up...) quick questions on the Prince of Lies... Is the Loki that appeared in Venus #6 considered the same character as the Loki who went on to be Thor's primary antagonist? Follow-up question is the Thor that appears with Loki in Venus #11 and Venus #12 the s...

Cool, might see if I can try and chase this one down. I loved Supreme Power, and that Nighthawk's first solo was pretty good from memory.

Re: Nighthawk (2016)

Eugh, trying to keep track of all the versions of the Squadron Supreme/Sinister there are is a minefield. I CAN'T wait until Mighty Avengers spotlights Hyperion for my own sanity. Probably the only character where the alternate versions are the character spotlight.

Other than that, don't know of anything else specific.

Re: Random Thoughts

I have been to Irish weddings where there's like a boat drinking game - each of the wedding couple 'draft' their side of the family's "best" drinkers in a boat-like formation - each 'rower' has a pint that they can only start once the preceding rower has finished their pint. But I think this was cal...

Is "Rock The Boat" as big a deal at Irish weddings as Derry Girls makes it out to be?
I've been to a few weddings in Ireland, and a fair few more weddings of people of Irish descent in the UK, and I have no idea what you are talking about, so guessing probably not..!

Given the weirdness of my family history, I wouldn't be surprised with anything that comes up if I did an ancestry test. No-one in my family above my dad's generation was even born with our family surname...!

Good work BC!

Have you started using "wanker"/"bollocks" as liberally as Chamber / Pete Wisdom yet?
Also, I can't stand English tea. The only tea I'll have is the slightly herbal tea you get in Lebanese/Turkish restaurants.

Re: Re: Random Thoughts

As a marketer, rest assured marketers generally care if they think they can make a buck, and there's tonnes of companies who will be targeting the pink pound without being LGBT-friendly. Whether it's the shameless Pride tie-ins with the rainbow, or more nuanced promotional campaigns, where a manufac...

Re: Random Thoughts

Is the term "pink dollar" limited to Pride cash-ins only? We have something similar in the UK, the term "pink pound" has been around in marketing circles for years, but it's not really about Pride cash-ins in isolation, but more about the demographic and purchasing power of gay people more generally...

Re: Random Thoughts

Interesting thoughts on pride, Lavettye. I guess there's elements of pride that people have as almost a defence against dismissal of those characteristics. Take sport, I think there are tonnes of sportspeople who are playing for the motivations that you mentioned, but if I think to one of my favouri...

So, who are the good Irish, the regular ones ore the ones still bowing to the Queen? Wow...erm... The conflict still results in deaths in both communities to this day... I'd be inclined to say neither side of the border are good or bad by virtue of which side of the border they're on, but there's a...
