Re: Captain Marvel vs. Captain Marvel

Interesting, Fawcett's inability to publish CM directly lead to the creation of Marvelman, later to be renamed Miracleman, later to be owned by Marvel...

Re: Story Elements You Do Want to See Again?

Just a random thing: I want to see one of those guides that show a layout of the entire base. Yes! Also technical breakouts / diagrams of specialised equipment. I know it's a bit of fan-service but I like that there's a thinking behind the cool techy stuff the books feature so at least it sort of m...

Re: Story Elements You Do Want to See Again?

Mucked up my quote but agree with LinboMaster completely re: Softball games and the likes.More Gambit rustling up some Cajun grub in the kitchen, more Logan and Kurt going for a beer, more Bobby playing dumb pranks, Betsy being a shameless flirt and Hank quoting some obscure 16th writer whilst bounc...

Re: Story Elements You Never Want to See Again?

Am I the only person who would really like the X-Men to stop being an 'organisation' and start being a more stripped down superhero team again? Don't mind a few squads (if they've got their own purpose and aren't stepping on each others' toes) - but the leadership thread has me thinking I've not rea...

So back to Jean, I stand by earlier point. Jean would see both men as faulty and stand as a moderate middle.
But what would the Phoenix do ;)

Re: Choosing a Leader

The point I was making is that the scenario is unlikely to even have happened...Logan wouldn't have tried to kill Hope, as my understanding is that the likelihood would be that if adult Jean was around, the PF would've been after her and not Hope at all. Secondly, Hope isn't her granddaughter at all...

Re: Story Elements You Never Want to See Again?

With you on the PF...it's a nightmare. The continuity of it is an absolute mess. I kind of what to see a bit of a pause on alt-universe mini-series and cross-overs for a while. Everything from HoM to Age of X to BotA through to Age of X-Man, I'm a bit bored of them now... What were cracking stories ...

Re: Choosing a Leader

And we already know what Jean thought of Scott, Logan and the JGS- eventually, she and the other 05, plus Kitty, left in very bad terms, thinking they were liars and hypocrites, and joined Cyclops, and that without 1/20 of the shared history she and Scott have. And she worked well with old Scott (e...

Re: Am I alone in disliking Jason Aaron's Wolverine & the X-Men?

Also think EphemeristX is spot on. Much of Logan's entire development is about trying to be a better man. He won't always succeed and in many cases his animalistic and savage side will still get the better of him, but the point is he doesn't want to be that animal. Will he still kill or take a proac...

Re: Avengers International Draft

That's instant karma for you taking Manifold... I would have picked him as my final member, if he hadn't been drafted by then. He's not centrally important though, I can do my theme without him. I keep being surprised by how many minor Avenger characters are picked so early on. Never plan on who yo...

Yeah Fat Budha, the massive one near what was (and probably still is...) a Wetherspoons? Aww, that's a shame, that place was ace. Players sounds more familiar as a name, but can't be sure. Imagine meeting a woman you think you love and finding out she thinks Barry Allen is the best Flash... Are you still working for the Scream chain, Das? Our local has ditched the Scream branding and it's gone all hipster with craft ales and not very sticky tables at all. Thankfully the staff in there are as utterly slow and useless as they've ever been, just so it's not too much of a shock to the syst...

Yeah, and I didn’t think anyone would pick Brian Braddock. I mean, no one likes him. He is the Alex Summers of Great Britain. So, so wrong. Brian is great - so many angles to him. He's a nuclear physicist empowered by an ancient wizard and serves on a team of multi-dimensional counterparts. As well...

I'm so lucky, because at my new job (that I LOVE), I get unlimited PTO plus all the paid holidays, and I'm salaried with potential for overtime and work from home once a week, so I kind of hit the jackpot right now. Re: Avengers International Draft

In nearly every draft I'm at the near bottom of the list, being dead last several times. I have become very comfortable with that set up and don't know if I could middle draft very well. I'm usually around the middle, it's fine as you get a bit of thinking time between picks, and you don't really m...

Re: Is Kitty Really THAT Bad of a Leader?

Yeah, Gambit, as much as I think he's a great X-Man, should never be a squad leader again. He's just not a natural fit as a leader.

Kitty is just bland. I don't hate her like others do, but she blends into the background for me. Not a fan.

Re: Is Kitty Really THAT Bad of a Leader?

And no, there was NOTHING rational about Logan's actions in AvX. He knew the Phoenix could be controlled because Jean did for a time before being corrupted by the HFC and so did Rachel, for even longer, without breaking bad. And he would have necessarily doomed mutantkind (possibly the world), no i...

Re: Is Kitty Really THAT Bad of a Leader?

I've not really read much of Kitty's run, but I think Storm hasn't really had the greatest of runs. I think she's far, far stronger as squad unit leader than the leader of a broader organisation. Which is weird, given her empathy and charisma, but she's got a habit of things going to hell in a hand...

A lot of posters tapped out during the Bendis era... I've certainly not caught up as regularly since he came on board, missing most of the whole Terrigen era, Death of X etc etc. Combination of funds and not really being as excited by the X-books as I used to be. It seems that loads of people who we...

In theory, I get another 2 weeks full pay sick leave on top of holiday (subject to management's approval - but almost always given)...
