Damn RingO…I know that feeling all too well.
Something to help maybe cheer up the place: I fully showcased my nerd pedigree at work by being the one person at work who can contextualize anyone’s life events by saying which comic book film came out that year. And it’s all off the top of the dome lol

Re: Runaways season 3
Well these all started as Hulu series too…so it’s possible the balance sheet for them is different. They still have to split profits on Hulu shows.

For point 1– I get it and actually really like that there’s a link between race and X-Gene… I do just kind of feel like perhaps the side story of the kids could have been skipped and more time given to exploring that world I agree 100%. I think the author took on my than a 4 issue mini could handle...

Re: Deadpool 3 (2024)
Seems like an unfortunate choice, I'm guessing they did it because they foresaw the writer's strike and allowing him to ad-lib would make him a writer and thus require him to go on strike (or be a scab). If the strike ends in time I wonder if they'll be able to go back and just dub in changed lines...

Re: Re: Random Thoughts
I’m shocked honestly that you don’t have more TV or film that centers working class Britons beyond cop/murder mystery shows. Those I know because I watch’em. Us Americans have a shit-ton of “working” class TV shows although the people usually live in impossibly big homes and their financial situatio...

Re: Re: Random Thoughts
Well I didn’t mean it had to be family orientated just something the family watched. The Color Purple is NOT a kid’s movie by any stretch. But we all watched it over the years with our families because of it’s cultural significance, depiction of Black life and the place the story has in Black litera...

Re: Re: Random Thoughts
That makes me curious: what are quintessential movies for families from yalls demo? Like I know alot of you British folks grew up working-class, so are there like particular films that your family or people like you watched growing up that yall felt reflected your hometown or culture? Like a Black p...

Being a Black person of a certain age, Tina’s life was always shown as one of triumph thanks to Angela Basset’s portrayal of her in the 90s cinematic classic “What’s Love Got to Do With It”…her whole catalogue is a soundtrack for life with people in my mom’s demo.

Re: Bishop: War College #4
Why are they doing this? This is not what i expected from Bishop being given students to train. Well from watching his live, the writer was offered a Bishop book and pitched this story. His idea was to #1 get the chance to do an alt-version of the X-world centered on Blackness and #2 he wanted to e...

Re: Death of Ms. Marvel
It’s a shame, I liked Quake. Considering she was once considered enough of a power player character to be a TV show lead, she sure seems to have dropped off the radar since (at least as far as my “I only really read X-Men” ass knows) Yeah she survived the Inhuman purge and isn’t a member of the Roy...

Idk, bankable star in 1998 isn’t the same thing in 2023. Wesley was actually a superstar at that time. Blade was able to grab attention at that time because of Wesley Snipes the man. Blade in 2023 would grab attention because of Blade the character. It’s basically been that way since Iron Man came o...

Re: Death of Ms. Marvel
Looking at it another way, the X-Men don’t have a character bloat problem, X-fans have a “I love every obscure character” problem and writers have a “I just made this cool in 1992 and now some fan will love them but nobody else will write them, so for the next 3 decades somebody at a con will ask me...

Re: Re: Random Thoughts
Its weird how I see the kids on Tiktok trying to make a point to say how important Blade was for Marvel without fully explaining the story. Like I got into an argument with someone who said that Iron Man, Punisher, and other non-Spidey characters were all “c-tier” back in the day (which I can only a...

I was talking about where the "villains" were being included as X-Men. Like you brought up Hellions, which technically is a X-team but yeah those guys aren't the "X-Men". Same goes for Fang on X-Factor, Omega Red and Black Tom on X-Force, Tempo and Pyro on the Marauders... The X-Men for the Krakoa E...

Forgot Akihiro, Omega Red and Black Tom…and Legion technically.
Unless you’re only talking the actual X-Men and not the peripheral titles.

Re: X-Men #22
To be fair to Synch, he did spend a few literal centuries basically of trauma. This after only just being revived from death. So it stands that those events would be meaningful and impactful for him. I mean it would be reckless for that not to be a major thing for him…and I mean it is development. I...
