Interview Grant Morrisson

And he loves (Joel) Schumacher in regards to his work on Batman.

May the appropriate questioning of his taste commence.

Horror Movies

I love horror movies. You guys have mentioned a lot of good ones but 2 of my favorites of the last decade are the Descent, a UK film, and the spanish horror film, The Orphanage. I cannot recommend these 2 movies highly enough for horror fans, or fans of film in general. Magnetolives22012-06-20 18:02...

Classic 90's X-men Cartoon

One thing that I REALLY liked was that the series had an ending. Sure, maybe the animation was sub-standard compared to earlier episodes. But it had an ending and it ended with a bang.

Classic 90's X-men Cartoon

I got this series on DVD for Christmas. Right now I'm through volume 4, around the Beyond Good and Evil 4 parter. It's fantastic. There is some great writing in there. I was reminded of why I love Magneto and other characters like Rogue have never seemed cooler to me. I didn't think the animation ha...

[QUOTE=Savant]This is the book where I really lose my interest in the series. First, the real heroine Susan is mostly missing. what are you reading?

Just finished The Bride Collector by Ted Dekker. Fantastic thriller. Not perfect, but quite effective. Genuinely and literally thrilling. Perhaps that's why it ranks #43 on top 100 thrillers by the NPR (http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=128718927).Moving on to George Orwell's 1984...

The UXN Book Club - Narnia

The veering of the conversation of "this is what I believe" was, is, and always will be at the discretion of the conversant. If it becomes a topic on our personal beliefs instead of points of agreement/disagreement with Lewis (or whoever), then it is off-topic and belongs elsewhere. It's the same as...

The UXN Book Club - Narnia

I don't think it has to be controversial. I mean, it's what a man believed, so it helps us paint a more accurate picture of what he was trying to communicate. Whether you believe it or not is not necessarily what is being discussed. It doesn't have to extend into personal belief that is a choice, be...

Great insights on the recurring women discussion and slavery as well. However, I think there is an aspect of your divine intervention thoughts that is missing that was addressed by Lewis in Prince Caspian and was a part of the huge correlation between that book and the Bible. Namely (and without dis...

What is a Strong Female Character?

Can I just say that I have really enjoyed this everyone's input on this, and with the controversial subtexts mentioned in this thread it could've easily exploded into a personal attack thread and argument for the sake of argument, but you guys didn't. What is a Strong Female Character?

I think the whole sentiment about "strong female characters are just like strong male characters" is a two edged sword. It's true that in the core depiction of a character you strive for the same qualities regardless of gender. However, I think that the manner in which you do so can look different f...

What is a Strong Female Character?

Strong female character? Well, a lot of people will throw around the names of their favorite characters and tend to justify it with a ridiculously long post that very few people have the intention of reading. I, myself, am tempted to state Psylocke as a strong character. However, that is debatable, ...

I would not doubt it, especially since Singer made reference to a lot Magneto and Xavier. But I'm not sure how I feel about that since Singer will obviously shy away from Magneto's Holocaust origins because he is bored with it. I don't think I am comfortable with that kind of negligence just because...
