Re: New Captain Marvel Series January.

Kelly Thompson fully won me over with her run on Hawkeye and I've been enjoying Mr and Mrs. X and WCA. I keep trying to find a volume of Captain Marvel that works for me and it looks like THIS might be the one.

Re: Edge of Spider-Geddon #4

I was a bit worried going into Spider-geddon that we'd just be getting a repeat of Spider-verse. I mean, everything so far - even this "edge of" lead up - kinda feels the same. But I like that the previous issue and this issue are less lead ups, and feel more like set-ups for events in Geddon. The o...

Re: UnCanon September 2018 Releases!

A: Thanks Justin! I'll have to make some time this week to start doing some reading and feedback-ing. I have been slowly poking away at the Age After for the past few months. I have one more issue to write to finish the first "year" of material, plus a few odds and ends to round things out, and then...

Re: Rob Liefeld - But why?

Liefeld corrected this on Twitter to say he said an EVENT and not a CROSSOVER. This makes me think it might be just a self-contained mini (like Deadpool Kills the Marvel Universe or something). That makes more sense than to think Marvel is actually giving him a large role in the X-line next year. I...

Re: Rob Liefeld - But why?

Why are there no "Because NO ONE DEMANDED IT!" style blurbs with ANY of the articles I've seen paired with this news? C'mon news sites, that's an easy one!

Anyone wanna guess that it involves "the real Cable" and probably crosses over X-Force and Domino (at least)?

Re: Avengers #8

I like this team's line-up and I like that each member has something interesting going on. Robbie as the new kid definitely reminds me of when Busiek added Justice to the Avengers post-Heroes Reborn, and that's a good thing. Considering the sheer amount of POWER available to a Ghost Rider, it's actu...

Re: Coates Talks Guardians Relaunch

Oh sweet Stan Lee, PLEASE edit that post title. I got SO HYPED for a Ta-Nehisi Coates written Guardians and then the article started interview Donny Cates and I crashed. That said, I'm kind of happy that the GotG have gotten big enough that Marvel can now tease their line-up, Avengers/X-Men style. O...

Re: Hunt for Wolverine: Dead ends

As someone who didn't buy the various Hunt for Wolverine mini's, I think this did a great job of summarizing those events as well as setting the stage for the rest of Logan's return. I went into this blind, only getting Mystery in Madripoor 4 because of Betsy's return to her OG body, and I feel like...

Re: Black Panther #3

I have the same basic complaint - I showed up to Black Panther because I wanted to read about T'Challa and what he's currently up to, not what's going down in X amount of years later. He just defeated the Adversary, won back his relationship with Storm, and has vaguely won the day in Wakanda - so wh...

Re: Infinity Countdown: Darkhawk #1-4

I have been...REALLY torn on how I feel about this book. Cuz I totally dug Darkhawk 53 (or whatever issue the new final issue of Darkhawk's ongoing was) and I thought it was a good starting point for new stories. Then IC:Darkhawk happened and it opens strong. I like Chris' relationship, I like that ...

Re: Iron Man 2 *SPOILERS*

Slott has done more world-building in 2 issues than a lot of authors do in 12 issues and I love it. Seeing the Gauntlet again made me so happy in a way that, I believe, only comic geeks can experience. Good developments with Rhodey and Jocasta, good acknowledgment of recent changes (the inclusion of...

Re: Avengers #5

Well, in a fairly fun, run-of-the-mill story, that was a turn I was not expecting. I'm still not feeling Jason Aaron's Cap, but there's something I like about the potential She-Hulk/Thor pairing as well as the new developments regarding Ghost Rider. I fell in love with Aaron's writing during his run...

I know that Spider-geddon is Spider-Verse 2: The Sequeling, but I just can't get interested in it. While I like Kaine getting more focus, I've been enjoying him over in Scarlet Spider just fine and don't see a need to pull him into this. I am ABSOLUTELY down for Doc Ocktober though and I look forwar...

The Mysterio in Scarlet is definitely called Quentin Beck and, during the courtroom scene, I believe the Beetle refers to him as Beck, so this is the same guy.

Re: Amazing Spider-Man #1

Wow, what a crotch-kick of a first issue. I don't think I've ever read a character's life go sideways so flippin' quickly! But Spencer did it super well, not only tying together the various plot threads of Peter's life, but bits and pieces of past continuity too. I'm very happy to see Boomerang back...

Re: Immortal Hulk #2

This is so good. I was expecting to enjoy this, as I've enjoyed everything else that Al Ewing has written, but I'm LOVING this. The basic premise is a nice nod to the idea of "Banner on the run/road, followed everywhere by the Hulk", but SUPER well executed. I'm sad that the super-intelligent Banner...

Re: Who is Magneto?

BOTH of you have a point. I agree with BC that Cyclops' journey (what I would call a fall from grace) justifies the creation of X-Force and his actions after that for the character. The X-Men - and mutantkind in general - had been pushed to the brink. Scott had been raised from an adolescent to prot...

- I think I was the only one in the whole theatre who laughed at the Liefeld/can't draw feet joke. I had the exact same experience. Same here. As a "general audience movie fan", I dug it. It's funny, it's dramatic, it looks good, knocked it outta the park. As a "devoted his life to the X-Men fan", ...

Re: Exiles #3

One of the things that I think this version of Exiles is doing really well is hitting home the THREAT of the Time Eater. I know there's been a lot of complaining about the overall direction of the book (which I think is valid), but I like the Time Eater is RIGHT on the Exiles tail. One of the things...

The only character I DONT care for here is Gwenpool, and having one out of five suck isn't bad. Thompson did a wonderful job on Hawkeye, I liked the recent Rogue & Gambit mini, and I'll be happy to pick this up.

Re: Who is Magneto?

I think that's it's much more telling that Magneto has spent the past few years working with the X-Men (in some capacity) than on his own. After the events of House of M, Deadly Genesis, Decimation, and more recently the M-Pox bullsh, the X-Men ideology has definitely move more towards Magnus' "surv...

Re: underused characters

Rusty and Skids, for sure. I feel like they could have been the Scott & Jean of New Mutants. Marrow, MAGGOTT, and Dr. Reyes are long-time faves for me. I've been glad to see him in Generation X v2, but Chamber. The Acolytes. Given that they were meant to be the X-Men of Magneto, the fact that almost...

Re: Amazing Spidey #699

I like that Slott isn't dumbing this down any. Peter is playing this as smart as he possibly can, calling all the right shots and using all the right people (I loved him referring to all of his back-up as his Web) but this isn't a normal threat. I am honestly puzzled as to how in the world Peter can...

Re: Domino #1

Domino doesn't seem like the type of person to marry nor stay with the same person for too long. I agree. I just thought that the pairing was a nice change of pace for both of them - Dom falling for a sweet nice guy and Peter falling for a dangerous, devil-may-care, type. It would never have lasted...
