Re: Concept vs Execution

Oh, I've got a perfect one. NEAL SHARRA. I've been reading a bit of the Revolution-era X-books (and I might do an additional post about the Neo eventually) and I'm just...so frustrated with Neal. In every way. His costume is uninspired - it's almost the same as that era's Colossus when he's armored ...

Re: Avengers #12

Does it seem weird to anyone else that people keep saying things like “this is the most powerful avengers line up in a long time...” ? Did everyone forget about Hickman’s Avengers army? Hyperion? Captain flippin’ Universe? I guess it really depends on how people in-universe are defining long time.....

Re: Marada the She-Wolf

EVERY time I read this, I thought that Marada the She-Wolf meant she was a werewolf and now I want werewolves in ancient Rome. So first, thank you for that. *thumbs up* Secondly, Claremont having a barbarian woman challenge the traditionally patriarchal power structure of Rome sounds right up his al...

Re: The Best Run...UXN’s Definitive Best X-Runs!

5. Spurrier: "Si's Bunch"- X-Force vol.4 #1-15. A nice, small cast of characters who all had their narratives pushed forward by the author in unconventional ways facing very odd threats. Spurrier's run stands out to me as the conceptually weirdest in the most traditional sense, if that makes any sen...

Re: Aquaman

I'm curious if anyone who reads Aquaman in comics has seen a personality shift to make him closer to the movie version. Even in the hook hand days I don't think Arthur was so "bro"-like. I read the Aquaman issues of the recent Drowned crossover with Justice League and he did not feel like a bro. Bu...

Re: Aquaman

This was good, but not amazing. I liked the Indiana Jones meets Underwater Fantasy vibe, the design of Atlantis was great. I liked Arthur's motivation - the discussion he had with Mera at the end about being an outsider and having to be on the attack since he was a kid was great, and actually made m...

Re: Ms. Marvel to relaunch with new creative team

I'm down. While Ms. Marvel has been a solid read throughout it's existence, I'll fully admit that the past year, at least, has been lackluster and forgettable. A new writer might be the breath of fresh air that Ms. Marvel needs. While I know alot of people on here don't care for the newest iteration...

Re: Fantastic Four 3-4 (just the X-Men related stuff) SPOILERS

It is odd that they put that „next year“ into an editorial Box. I know those boxes for past events but I never saw that for a future retcon. I think this was done to keep angry fanboys off their back. Rather than just chalking up Iceman's inclusion as an accident, Slott has a plan and a story to te...

Hey, how do we know where the T-O folls are at?
IIRC - I lent this arc of Astonishing to a friend - there's a background during the escape in this issue that shows T/O Strong Guy and Wolfsbane. It MIGHT have been over in Uncanny, but I could have sworn it was this book.

Re: Astonishing X-men #17

Given that we're shown that ONE has custody of T/O Strong Guy, Wolfsbane, and the rest, and now has custody of Havok, I think it'd be neat if we saw Havok in charge of a ONE-backed mutant team, ala a modern take on X-Factor. I mean, we've got Uncanny back, we're getting X-Force back, why not X-Facto...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #1

Well I thoroughly enjoyed this. And I got my X-girls variant cover which was iffy, so I'm happy. I coughed up for the Jim Chueng variant cuz I love his artwork, I'm not a bit fan of Leinel Yu's cover, and Uncanny was THE book that got me into comics. It's so pretty. I normally skip variants, but I ...

Re: Avengers #10

Between this and Uncanny #1, this is a SOLID week for "core" books! Seeing the Winter Guard re-assembling was cool. I like that Aaron has expanded them into a larger, more "Avengers" like team. I have never heard of Vostok before, but I like his visual, and I think this team is interesting. I'd love...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #1

Re: Armor/Anole - I think that both of the points brought up are valid. The IDEA behind the scene is great, and does reflect a lot of honest complaints that the Academy X/Young X-Men characters have. However, neither Armor or Anole have been the front-runners for that type of plotline. Surge and Hel...

Re: Uncanny X-Men #1

This feels more like a return to the 90s era Uncanny to me than X-Men: Gold or Blue ever were. I love this line-up of characters - Bishop and Jubilee being together was great. The MLF looked great, although given how bit-player they are, some power descriptions would have been nice. I don't remember...

Excelsior will never sound the same. Thankfully I found out after I got out of work yesterday, so I didn't have the double stresses to deal with. I'm always a little hesitant when ANY book tries to pull a "Not the Age of Apocalypse, but kinda sorta" type of story-line, but I'm more intrigued than worried at this point. Legion as X-Man on the cover to issue 9 is interesting for a number of reasons. Shatterstar VS Sailor Moon - and I couldn't b...

Storm's new look debuted over in X-Men: Red fairly recently, while Jamie's story was explored in the Madrox mini. The mini-series was really good, I'm with BC on that one, totally underrated. It looked great, it was a fun read, and it did a great job of playing around in the Marvel Universe. So many...

Re: Uncanny x-Men #1 New Variant

Obviously we don't know the full team line-up, and covers - especially variants - are often misleading, but I like this team.
