Re: Savage Avengers

This'll be fun to ignore when Marvel loses the Conan rights again. Do like Shang-Chi renaming the father. "Remember when we teamed up with Cunon? Yeah that was totally his real name and the only one we should use from now on. Cunon the Conqueror." I'd love it if they just called him Arnold the whol...

Conan was owned by Marvel previously btw...like SW...which is turning out pretty good *shrug*
I've actually been wondering if Selene and Kulan Gath - who, from my understanding, originated in Marvel's older Conan stuff - would cross paths with him again.

I'll probably try this book for the cast, but like Jazz above me, Gerry Duggan has been SUPER hit or miss for me. GotG started out pretty good, but Infinity Wars was a MESS.

Sorry knives! They're the only "Previously been members of Thunderbolts" that I was eyeing, so I knew I had to snatch 'em early. The rest of my picks will - hopefully - be a lot more off the radar.

Re: Thunderbolts Draft

Having retaken Symkaria back from the nefarious clutches of Norman Osborn and Countess Karkov, Sable has a nation to rebuild. Symkaria's faith in her leadership is low, their economy and morale is in ruins, and Sable needs to re-establish a power base QUICKLY. She then decides to put together a team...

Re: Marvelous X-Men #1

Alpha did a good job in setting up the premise of this reality, but Marvelous does a poor job taking that narrative forward - at least so far! I hate to sound so disapproving so fast, and there IS a whole series to be read here, but yeah, I was just fine with this issue. One series? 6 series! I mea...

Re: Marvelous X-Men #1

I tend to agree with das - I don't feel very strongly one way or the other. Given that this book is the only pure X-MEN book, it's clearly meant to focus more on their status quo and who/what the X-Men are in the AoXM. The individualism as utopian, them as rescue more than as fighters, and who they ...

Re: Age of X-Man Alpha

Someday I’d like to see a utopian story arc where it really is a utopia. Where there’s no doubt what was lost is a price worth paying. And where the heroes lose and we revert to 616, and that’s a tragedy. Honesty, that was MY take on the House of M story-line. I still don't understand how the X-Men...

Re: Thunderbolts Draft

This has been a really surprising Draft so far. I was expecting Songbird and MACH # to get picked up pretty quick, but there have been a LOT of unorthodox choices and I'm loving it. I went into this without a plan at all, but seeing certain characters get scooped as formulated my concept for me.

Pat Broderick's run on Doom 2099 is AMAZING to me. So much detail and imagination, and he always took the time to make reflections and visual effects reflect off Doom's armor.

Re: X-Force #2

I'm vaguely enjoying this. While I love Sam being in an X-book again (hopefully full time), it does bother me that he isn't in more of a leadership role. Sam has had YEARS of experience at this point, as both part of a team and as the team's lead, and I hope that the...fractious attitude that this t...

Re: Age of X-Man Alpha

This was a great inversion of the type of world that AoA and AoX gave us. The world-building bits were intriguing and different from whatever has come before, the cast is sufficiently odd (why the f does Marvel keep forcing Nature Girl and Glob Herman on me?) and set up to spin off into the various ...

I bet that if you set a book in any of the other cities, they would also call their city "the greatest city in Heaven." No one wants to be numbers 2-7. Otherwise, I thought this was great. Seeing the ancient interpretations of these characters/ideas is great fun - Mephisto as a serpent, a gorilla wi...

Oh, I've got a perfect one. NEAL SHARRA. I've been reading a bit of the Revolution-era X-books (and I might do an additional post about the Neo eventually) and I'm just...so frustrated with Neal. In every way. His costume is uninspired - it's almost the same as that era's Colossus when he's armored ...

Does it seem weird to anyone else that people keep saying things like “this is the most powerful avengers line up in a long time...” ? Did everyone forget about Hickman’s Avengers army? Hyperion? Captain flippin’ Universe? I guess it really depends on how people in-universe are defining long time.....

5. Spurrier: "Si's Bunch"- X-Force vol.4 #1-15. A nice, small cast of characters who all had their narratives pushed forward by the author in unconventional ways facing very odd threats. Spurrier's run stands out to me as the conceptually weirdest in the most traditional sense, if that makes any sen...

I'm curious if anyone who reads Aquaman in comics has seen a personality shift to make him closer to the movie version. Even in the hook hand days I don't think Arthur was so "bro"-like. I read the Aquaman issues of the recent Drowned crossover with Justice League and he did not feel like a bro. Bu...

This was good, but not amazing. I liked the Indiana Jones meets Underwater Fantasy vibe, the design of Atlantis was great. I liked Arthur's motivation - the discussion he had with Mera at the end about being an outsider and having to be on the attack since he was a kid was great, and actually made m...

Re: Ms. Marvel to relaunch with new creative team

I'm down. While Ms. Marvel has been a solid read throughout it's existence, I'll fully admit that the past year, at least, has been lackluster and forgettable. A new writer might be the breath of fresh air that Ms. Marvel needs. While I know alot of people on here don't care for the newest iteration...

Re: Fantastic Four 3-4 (just the X-Men related stuff) SPOILERS

It is odd that they put that „next year“ into an editorial Box. I know those boxes for past events but I never saw that for a future retcon. I think this was done to keep angry fanboys off their back. Rather than just chalking up Iceman's inclusion as an accident, Slott has a plan and a story to te...
